About

Cody’s was created to bring an unbelievable menu and dining experience to the resort town of Garden City. Paris, Idaho stepped up and joined in back in August 2018. We have awesome grub, some super cool decor (check out the Hot Rod!) and some seriously delicious desserts. Guests come away with a one of a kind dining and decor experience with a level of service that exceeds expectations. We can't wait to serve you!

Tasty Food, Lackadaisical Service

I visited at 1:15 pm on a Monday afternoon. There was no one front of house seating customers. After a while, a worker came from the back and seated me. I ordered a soft drink and BBQ quesadilla, which came with tortilla chips, sour cream, and guacamole. I had to get my utensils and napkin myself from a neighboring table. The quesadilla was tasty, especially paired with sour cream and guacamole. I did not taste the tortilla chips. They were glistening with oil. The server never asked if I needed a refill of soda, nor stayed tableside long enough for me to request one.

Been here a few times. Was looking forward as it had great food and ambience prior visit. But this visit was different, the waitress was Fantastic! The food was not. Our meal seemed very cheap and over fried fare. Was disappointed in food taste and cooked. But the waitress whom had our table was attentive and polite. We did not complain as many small businesses are trying to get back to normal.... mixed review.

We ate dinner here very recently & thought the food was good. We had a hamburger and sweet potato fries. The hamburger was very good, but our fries were barely warm. The staff was friendly & helpful, and the restaurant was clean, roomy & airy. We thought the prices were reasonable. Give it a try!

Ordered Breakfast takeout

We got there at 9am and did not get our order until 10:15 am..We asked three different times about our order and all we got was”I’ll go check” and nothing happened!! There was only three tables in the restaurant At this time!! 3 other parties came in to eat while we were STILL waiting for our order but after waiting 15 minutes with no acknowledgement they left. The other customers asked how long we had been there and I told them over an hour 😱Very very poor service..Poor manager interaction

Chaotic and memorable for the wrong reasons.

First visit to Cody’s with my family. Kitchen was out of several items. I planned to try the signature pulled pork and grilled cheese sandwich but they were out of pork. I got the chicken cordon bleu with fries and it was tasty. My son ordered the carne asada fries but tue waitress returned a few minutes later and said they were out of that…..not the carne asada….but the fries. She explained that the kitchen needs to ration their fries because they won’t last the day and the carne asada fries “use too many”. Weird. So he ordered something else. One meal was served about 5 minutes before the rest and there were errors with three of the orders. Fries were left off my order but they eventually showed up and the other orders were eventually corrected. I know they are short staffed (for hire signs in the lobby) as we had a 20 minute wait only to enter and see half of the tables wide open. The experience was chaotic and staff were disorganized as food appeared to be delivered to wrong tables multiple times during our dinner. The food was delicious and the decor is top-notch. But the overall experience was disappointing and will be remembered for all the things that went wrong, unfortunately.

Out of items, and you won't get everything you ordered!

Do not go here unless you crave disappointment! This place has the worst service. No one was out front to greet or sit you. We had to wait a while for them to show up. When I tried to order the Turkey Bacon Avocado Club the server told me they were all out of Turkey. I then ordered a Garden City Salad. I noticed after a while that it didn't have any candied almonds in the salad- ( One of the main reasons I ordered this salad). I mentioned it to the Waiter, and he tells me the cook didn't tell him they were out of almonds. Some lady working there asked if I wanted extra cheese on my salad, and I declined that because that is hardly a substitute for candied almonds! They didn't really offer to make it right, and still charged me full price. I was taken aback by all of this and didn't even realize until later that apparently the cook, and waiter also forgot my Garlic bread! At that point, I was pretty upset once I realized that too. The quality of service and quality of products offered for the price is definitely not worth it!

Trying to be something they are not.

I was very underwhelmed. I feel that Cody's is trying to be something that is not. For the price we paid, I would expect a little bit more than a cool atmosphere. The menu did not have prices claiming to have dynamic pricing. What? We paid $7 for the kids mac and cheese and it was poor quality Kraft mac and cheese. We paid $20 for street tacos and the portions were very small. The the host and waitresses were in their teens and/or early 20's and they lacked basic customer service skills. They were shy and quite and not proactive. Our waitress did not come around and check on us. We had to find them to ask to order a desert. After our meal, we said goodbye to the host as we were leaving and did not even get a response. The dining room was cold and it appeared that the air conditioner kept kicking on even though it was cold (March 2024). After reading the reviews, I see that there are many others who had the same comments as I have within the last year, but it seams that the issues have still not been resolved. I don't think I will be going back.

So disappointed!

Full disclosure: the quality of the food at Cody's Gastro Garage does not enter into the picture with this review, because we never ordered any. We drove an hour from Evanston, WY, to try this place after hearing and seeing good things about it. Even though there was only one couple in the restaurant when we arrived, it took a few minutes to be greeted and seated by a young woman who didn't seem very enthused about being there. We were perplexed to see that prices of most entrees were not listed on the menu. Our server/greeter explained that we had to scan a QR code to see what individual entree prices were and to see what items might or might not be available. Hearing that immediately turned us off; yes, we are old school, and no, we're not scanning a QR code just to order lunch. We relayed that to our server who said in an off-hand way, "it's not my restaurant." We moved on and fortunately found the Bear Trapper, where the employees take obvious pride in their business and their work! More on that in a minute...

Lady with gauges needs to go.

Lady with gauges needs to go. Literally the worst customer service interaction I've ever seen. Told us the wait time would be 30 min for a party of 2. We returned at the appropriate time but she claimed to have told us to wait and we were now on the bottom of the list since we had been called. Honestly seemed like they were just giving high wait times to push people out. Also claimed the wait time was because staff was “overwhelmed” can’t imagine how it must be when they are at full capacity. Will not be back, reviews were 100% correct.

Breakfast issues

We have gone there twice now in the last 2 weeks. The first time it was 10:35 am and the place was almost empty. The host said she couldn’t seat us until 11 am. When asked why the wait, she said that we couldn’t order breakfast as it ended at 11 am. That was 25 minutes away. So we left and went to Crepes and coffee. Again yesterday we tried taking our family to Cody’s for breakfast at 8:10 am. All hours posted said they open at 8 am. When we got there it was completely dark. Not 1 employee around. So again we went to Crepes and coffee. The poor service and inconsistency of the place being open has disenfranchised us from ever visiting again. We met the owner when the place was doing a soft opening 5 years ago. If he knew that this was happening at his establishment, he would be horrified. He has a great vision for Bear Lake and has invested time and money into improvements in the town. His staff is letting him down and the community down.

One of our guest ordered a Cody Classic Burger wrapped in lettuce. A half baking pan was delivered with a wilted piece of lettuce in one corner and small tomato and onion slice. He waited and waited for the burger to arrive… finally the waitress came by to see how are food was and we asked where is his burger. Her response was it’s there! We all gasped…and this tiny burger was under the wilted lettuce. Crazy! Service was not good…she didn’t know the menu and had no interest in serving us. Won’t be visiting or recommending Cody’s.

Awesome place

This was a pick up order. They told me they stopped serving breakfast at 11am. I had called at 11:30 when I said dang it they were like what did you want to breakfast burritos with chili Verde? They said we can do that. I picked up my order at noon. It was two breakfast burritos with chili Verde awesome food awesome service thank you

A Poor Choice

This week, as part of a group of nine, we ate a late dinner. The service was slow and the attendant got mixed up with the orders returning several times to resolve issues. The nachos came out cold and we sent them back. The prices are high for the service rendered and the quality of the food.

Waited 35 minutes to be seated

Waited 35 minutes to be seated with only two groups of two in front of us. Then we waited more than 20 minutes just to have our order taken while wait staff bussed and cleared other empty tables. Tables seated after us had their food before we even ordered or were asked for drinks. Food was fine but nothing great. Decor was cool but not worth it!

They wouldn’t even try to seat us a party of 4 because they had a bus unload there maybe 40 people. They still had a lot of empty tables. We will never be this way again and I’m sure they could care less but I wanted our bus company to know and not recommend them.
