Smart, sassy, nicely decorated, great ambiance, and a killer menu to boot. Not a huge vegetarian diner, we did order the vegetarian burger, and wow, it was fantastic. All food was of a very high quality, attention to detail was good, as was the service

Plan your daily meal around this restaurant, very unique menu and excellent execution. I'd stop again even if I wasn't hungry. Walk around the grounds, or plan to stay overnight. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will all be very unique.

Where else can you get a five star meal - literally out in the middle of nowhere. Hell's Backbone grill is an oasis in the desert. Great setting, outstanding food, and a friendly and attentive staff. What's not to love...

Sadly, our experience was not so positive. The pancakes we ordered arrived black, as in burned. We sent them back, and the second batch was just as bad. They tasted burned and were inedible. The bacon was also very overcooked. The biscuits and gravy were...More

Limited menu at lunch. Probably should have had the meatloaf, although, it didn't come with mashed potatoes and the two shouldn't be separated. The burger was tasty, however, the patty was rather small for the money. The slaw was tasty and the service was very...More

Ecologically responsible, organic and locally grown food that was pretty good but expensive. The fanciest location we encountered in the Escalante region.

Hell’s Backbone Grill is the best food we’ve eaten in years, truly. It’s a farm to table restaurant so almost everything is harvested onsite. We loved it so much we went back the next day. The staff is spot on and fun!! We bought both...More
