This a very good place to eat in Zapata. One reviewer wrote that t to watch the hot sauce and it is spicy. El Pariaso is known for its Chicken Fried Steak. I had one and it was very good as was the gravy that went with it. There are several ways to order it. I got it with Mashed potatoes and corn. You can get a combination plate that includes both the steak and Mexican food. My wife got the Stuffed Steak, a Hamburger Steak stuffed with mozzarella. bacon and mushrooms. Then you have a mushroom gravy that is very good. They have several desserts. We had the Cookies and Cream pie. Everything was great.

When you start on the chips and salsa-careful- the fire builds. I took a recommendation- hummm. The portions (small) could have fed three old guys like me. I can’t recommend the gravy with cheese, but the steak was good. All in all, I may give it a second chance.

People come to Zapata for two reasons. Number one reason is bass fishing. Second reason is El Paraiso’s famous chicken fried steak smothered with delicious creamy cream gravy.

Two crispy tacos were, over deep fried tacos. Tortilla chips were stale, and the salsa was thick. Place was half full, but service was slow. Refried beans were over heated and hard along the edge. Very disappointed.

Wow, there are not many places open on Thanksgiving and to get a home cooked meal was a real treat. Very tasty meal and the service was great! When i went to pay for the meal, the owner advised for over 55 it was free. Its been a tradition since 1975!!! I was taken back by this kind of hospitality. Thank you!!!

We both ordered chicken fried steak though I had the mashed potatoes and my husband had the rice and beans. The cream gravy that came with the steak was excellent. The chicken fried steak was not greasy and was very good. I would not say it is the best we have ever had but with the gravy it was great. Service was good and they were attentive to making sure our ice tea glass was full. Sort of strange that the bread that came with the meal was white bread and in a plastic sandwich bag?

And same terrible food. See my review for the steakhouse. Tough steak and tougher chicken fried. Plan iceberg lettuce with a tomato slice as a salad. Slow as a snail service and tasteless food.

Passing through from AZ to Padre Island wife and I took a chance on this place. They have "The chicken fried steak that made Zapata famous!" I tried it with an enchilada and taco. Didn't care for the taco but loved the steak and enchilada. Wife had a huge taco salad she really liked.

Visited restaurant after a day on water. We all ordered house specialty Chicken Fried Steak...it was ok and service was border line. Salsa has a definite kick not for mild salsa eaters..

I've eaten at this restaurant many times in the last three years. Like all Zapata restaurants, it's not fancy and it's reasonably priced. The menu is broad. There is plenty of the seating and the service is good.

One of the best Chicken fried steaks I've ever had. Highly recommend it. I have been coming here since 1977.

In town on business for an extended period and tried it for lunch today with coworkers. I had the Chicken Supreme which it was. Grilled chicken breast with mushrooms, gravy and cheese over a bed of rice. Great flavor. Friends had chicken fried steaks. Judging by the empty plates, it was good too! The soup appetizer was very flavorful. Friendly and quick service. A great place if your in town!

We were advised by an American Immigration Officer at Edmonton International Airport to go to this restaurant in his hometown for the best chicken fried steak ever.Spotted the restaurant on the highway driving through town so decided to stop. The chicken fried steak was very good (only time we've eaten it so can't vouch for it being the best ever!) as was everything that came with it. Portions were very large and the service was friendly and very fast, even though the restaurant was very busy. The menu is extensive and the prices were very reasonable. We were there on a Sunday evening and it seemed to be a very popular place for family dining. Because it is on the highway, the service is fast, and the food is very good, it is a great place to stop for a quick meal when passing thorugh Zapata.
