We will definitely be back! Waxahachie has more than 1 great local restaurant but The Dove’s Nest may be a new fave! (A 20 minute wait for 2 people at 11:25am is a good sign that it’s popular!) It’s not the cheapest restaurant but $20ish...to be totally stuffed with amazing food is not a bad deal at all! Mom and I usually order our own and split everything so she got the Dove’s Nest Salad Medley ($13.95) with Apricot Chicken Salad and Baby Spinach Salad which was very large and super fresh! The chicken salad has sherried apricots with fresh rosemary honey Dijon mayo which sounds like a strange combo but is probably the best I’ve ever had! The Baby Spinach Salad has apple wood bacon, golden raisins & apples with orange curry dressing… again sounds suspicious but amazing! I ordered the Ham & Jam Sandwich (slices of grilled pit ham & Brie with arugula, mayo and private label peach habanero jam on a toasted ciabatta $12.75) on the recommendation of our very nice, friendly and attentive waitress (Rebekah I think)! Again, didn’t sound super great but ya super great! I got the 1/2 sandwich with a cup of soup as the soup of the day was Green Chile Chicken which can be a bit spicy but this was just about perfect! In case that wasn’t enough food (which it was) we each got an oversized slice of Chocolate Bourbon Pecan Pie (comes with a double scoop of ice cream for $7.50) which was GREAT! Real metal utensils and cloth napkins in a cool old building (without the increasingly common loud music) are just added bonuses! A few things to be aware of… 1 there’s an upcharge for not paying cash… 2 the entrance to the restaurant is not the door on the side street but through the gift shop door on the corner (which is by design because) 3 you have to go through a great gift shop where you (and especially any female companions) will almost certainly find something to buy. Apparently the Dallas Morning News gave them 3.5 stars (which I think is short by about 1.5) and Texas Monthly magazine voted them one of the top 10 best small town restaurants in Texas! They’re only open for lunch but if you’re in the area it’s a do not miss!More

A lovely lunch place in historic downtown Waxahachie. Part boutique/gift shop, part lunchtime only restaurant. Casual& relaxed atmosphere, with a comfort food menu with lots of healthy options.

We’ve been going here for years and the quality of food is always consistent. We had the super juicy burger and of course, the unbeatable Chocolate Bourbon Pecan pie.

Monday lunch. You just can't beat it if you're in the Waxahachie area. The sandwiches and salads are always great. The orange tea was a bonus. Service is very friendly and attentive. Always worth a return visit.

The food has declined. The deviled eggs were terrible. The cheese dip horrible. The food used to be good but has slid downward. The ambiance is cute but food not so good.

Although I was not in Waxahachie longterm, I visited twice for lunch. The restaurant is always busy but the service is great. Food is different than your normal sandwich and soup place. Loved having the gift shop right next door.

Dove's Nest is located inside a gift shop that's set up with multiple sections each representing a different vendor. Fun place for ladies to browse. Only lunch is served (11-2) and it gets very crowded, so either get there early or after 1. The noise...level is really bad. It can be hard to hear a conversation sometimes. As respects their food, they only serve a flavored orange spice tea. Not everyone like flavored tea, especially spice flavor. Never been to a restaurant that only offers a flavored tea. I still enjoy going for lunch. It's a small menu. I like their Chicken Apricot Salad combo and add the Baby Spinach Salad. My husband really likes the Jalapeño BLT. Have also tried their homemade soup of the day and it's always been very good. Service has always been great. Very friendly servers. As respects dessert, not so good. Took a piece of their chocolate bourdon pecan pie home. Was EXTREMELY dry. After a couple of bites threw it away. The blackberry bread pudding is good though. Even with the noise and no plain tea, it's a fun spot to go for a casual lunch and it's always fun to browse the store section after lunch.More

Lovely lunch today with my son and daughter! Best Cobb salad I have ever had. Kids loved their burgers and the special tea was delicious. Don’t order the deviled eggs-$4.95 for three egg half’s is insane. Friendly staff. Great atmosphere!

My wife suggested The Doves Nest for lunch. We arrived at around 1:30 on a Thursday. We were greeted and seated promptly. The waitress came and took drink orders. I asked for a iced tea. I was informed they only have orange tea which my...wife ordered. I ended up drinking water. We had the cheese spread as a appetizer. It was good with the chips and bagel crisps. Wife ordered chicken salad and I had a panini sandwich. The sandwich was good and the bread was nice and toasty.More

What a gem this restaurant is. Very unique menu with lots of choices. I had the ham and Jam sandwich and it was great and wife had the chicken peach salad sandwich on whole wheat bread. Both were outstanding and came with a leaf salad....Offer whole and half sandwiches on the menu and a half is plenty big unless you want to take the other half home with you. We topped our lunch off with the blackberry bread pudding with scoop of ice cream, which was pretty good too. Service was great. Prices are a little upscale but so is the food. A pretty busy place during the lunch hour when we were there. Parking across the street from the restaurant. The front of the building where the restaurant is located is a gift shop with some unique items and some women’s clothing for purchase.More

Very cool restaurant and store. There is a sign on the door that says "You are welcome to wear a mask if you feel more comfortable. That is your right to choose for yourself... and yourself alone!" so if you're scared leave and don't be...a Karen. The chicken salad was delicious!More

I typically love eating at the Doves Nest. It is the only time I allow myself to have dessert. I first ordered the chicken salad medley. It was absolutely wonderful! I moved on to the bourbon chocolate pecan pie and was amazed when it was...sat in front of me. It looked exquisitely divine, but unfortunately did not taste that way. The pie crust looked so appealing but tasted stale and was hard as a rock. I could not eat any of it. The filling was good, but I like crust with every bite of filling and could not eat it. The dessert is expensive enough that I should be assured of its quality and taste, and I was disappointed, otherwise I would have given 5 stars.More

We drove from Fort Worth to enjoy lunch at one of our favorite tea rooms! So happy to get out of town if only for lunch. None of the employees were wearing masks, however, which immediately surprised us. Every restaurant we go to in Fort...Worth has a strict policy regarding masks. Since we had driven 45 minutes to get there, we decided to stay and chance it. Lunch was delicious, service wonderful as always and we still love The Doves Nest. Just wished there had been more precautions to protect the employees and customers.More
