Went there with my girlfriend this weekend for an early Valentine's Day dinner. My girlfriend lives out of town, so I picked the restaurant. I chose the 1424 Bistro since I have been there before and I know it usually has a quiet romantic setting. I was not disappointed in the ambiance. The food was good, but a bit disappointing.... Quite an eclectic menu--English, French dishes predominate (i.e. Beef Wellington, Lamb Shanks). We started with the flaming Sagniki Cheese as an appetizer--quite good, sauteed in butter before the flaming liquor was lighted by the table, it is good for the show. I ordered the lamb shanks with April's Potato Medley and Broccoli--that also comes with a salad for $18.00 and... More

We really wanted to like this restaurant. There are relatively few nice restaurants here in Waco and we hoped this would be our new go to place. My husband ordered the pork tenderloin was dry as a bone. I ordered the mahi-mahi 'special' with a crab and shrimp filling it was mush between two dried pieces of fish. Great service... More

We are sorry to have not met your expectations. Mahi-Mahi is a very popular dish and we have had lots of compliments on this dish. The fish is lean and on the dry side but the taste is amazing with how it is prepared along with the crab and shrimp filling to the sun-dried tomato topping. However, the chef has... More

Had the lamb chops and Caesar salad. Best lamb chops anywhere also enjoyed the sagnaki and dolmathes. One of Waco's finest.

This is a nice dinner house with a warm atmosphere. Food was very good but I would skip the Seafood Curry - too soupy. But ordering fish in Waco might not be the best choice. Service was very good, helpful and friendly. We had a large group and were taken care of well. They have some unusual items on the... More

We appreciate your review but just wanted to let you and others know that we specialize in bringing Waco the freshest seafood possible! Our fresh seafood is flown in to Dallas and then brought to us here in Waco. It arrives twice a week on ice. Then Chef Aris does his magic by filleting the big fish like Halibut and... More

After reading the reviews we were excited to try the bistro. Our service was average with the waitress coming back on 2 occasions to recheck what we had ordered. Bread service was bland with hard butter in individual plastic containers, the Caesar salads were good but dinner was disappointing, chicken alfredo was very soupy and appetizer was lukewarm. The ambiance... More

My wife and I ordered a bottle of wine and an shrimp and scallops as an appetizer. Both were excellent. Our waiter, Dalton, was most attentive. I ordered beef tenderloin and the wife ordered mahi mahi. The food was amazing!! To cap the night off, we ordered creme brûlée and coffee. Most excellent atmosphere and food.

Food was just ok. Ceasar salad is not served with croutons but with crushed crumbs. Thought that was strange. The ceasar dressing was good. Chicken picata was just ok. Service was excellent.

Best meal in whole Texas trip. Despite not finding the door at first we had a great meal and excellent service at this restaurant. Liz pointed it out on our tour and it is well worth your time to have dinner there
