We were in Waco visiting to see all of the Magnolia places. I read about George's Restaurant on Yelp and it sounded great so my husband and I decided to try it. We were staying at a hotel in South Waco and saw that it...was only about 8 minutes away. So off we went! We asked for a table outside because we thought that it would be safer that way. (COVID) They did have a table outside and it was a cool evening so we were happy about that. We ordered and split the Fisherman's Dinner On the dinner, we chose fried shrimp, blackened redfish and fried catfish. Our choice of veggies were the broccoli rice casserole and garlic potatoes. We also ordered side salads and rolls with homemade salad dressing. There was so much food and it was outstanding! Try George's, you won't be sorry. It is famous among the locals! By the way, our server was Britain and she was amazing!More

Just visited for the first time in several months since the shelter-in-place got lifted. Good to see the crowd from the neighborhood! Had to wait about 15 minutes was no big thing. Tables were spaced too. But food was good as ever as were the...drinks and just felt badly for our server who had to try to work and talk to us through her mask! Had a patty melt and my wife had the fried shrimp! We'll keep supporting you folks!More

Great place for a quick lunch special at a great price. Sit inside or out if the weather is good. Great drinks too.

We get to George's about 1 or 2 times a month and always have great food and a great place to watch sport and for some reason always meet fun new people. It's just got that kind of vibe. However, the last two times in...the bar, Lexi waited on us and gotta say, she's really great. We own several service-tourism businesses as well as our own bar and restaurant (not in Waco) and eat out extensively. Lexi is a gem. Just wanted to give her a shoutout. She actually engages her customers even tho' she's running all over. Gives you recommendations on what's good and what's not. Always checking on her folks as well and doing it with a smile.More

Great place to meet friends for lunch! This time I ordered the small baked potato with fried chicken and queso! It was plenty! The menu at George's has something for everyone! It draws a large crowd 7 days a week!

A local favorite, George’s can be quite busy at lunch…the original location was so busy, in fact, that we elected to go to the new location (known by locals as “G2”) instead. A much larger location, still very busy, but even so it was only...a ten-minute or so wait. I had two chili dogs, with a nice coating of cheese, chunks of bacon, onions and chili. It was restrained – usually when you get a chili dog, the stuff is slopped on with a ladle, and you have a mess, albeit, a delicious one. Georges’ chili dog is a little neater, more restrained with the chili, but still delicious. A quality Nathan’s dog is the centerpiece, and it’s a good choice for lunch. My wife had the veggie plate and reported it to be excellent. I also tried the peach cobbler with ice cream – it was incredibly rich and delicious. The staff is friendly, attentive, and the prices are quite reasonable. No wonder the place is a local fave.More

This restaurant was close to our hotel, and turned out to be a great dinner option. We sat on the outside patio, and enjoyed the afternoon sun. My wife had one of the salads, and was very pleased with its taste, and size. I had...one of the specialty burgers(The Cadillac), I believe. Burger was fresh, and tasted very good, it was also large, and was more than enough, when combined with the fries. Beers were served with an ice coated mug, and there were lots of choices. Service was polite, and courteous, and friendly. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend dining here!More

We had the chicken fried steak and hamburger steak, both were super delish! Broccoli salad was something to write home about along with the onion rings!!! And y’all this is just crazy but the baked potato was the best one I’ve ever had. Perfect size,...done right with salted outside! Memorable meal for sure! A local told me everything is always good and to avoid it when Baylor has a game because it gets packed out. We did and it was as advertised!More

We were traveling through Waco and only ate there once, I believe we were there a little before noon on a week day and waited about 10 minutes, well worth the wait.
