What a true gem. We happened upon The Homestead and spent the entire day visiting all the craft shops. Go to the restaurant first as there may be a wait. While you wait go over to the pottery or woodworking shop. The food was outstanding. We got the cheese appetizer...ymm. The sweet potato jalapeno soup was delicious followed by the... More

This great little gem outside of Waco, Texas has some of the freshest food you'll ever eat. On this trip I had the Poblano Soup and the Quesadilla Burger. Both were flavorful and delicious. The grass feed beef in the burger really made the difference. It's a tad spicy, but not overwhelming. The restaurant is normally very busy on weekends... More

I visited with my family & the food was superb! The staff were very pleasant; they even gave me a generous helping of the Mustang grape jelly with my leftover! I will love to go back sometime. The only draw is, this cafe is SOOO popular, you'd have to wake up extra early!

What a nice find this place was -- the food is all freshly made and so delicious. And there are cute shops to browse in as well (cheese shop, pottery shop, gift shop, garden shop and general store). We enjoyed a delicious lunch and got some fresh cheese, honey and other treats to take home.

Nice little restaurant tucked away in the homestead community. Food is always fresh. They make their own cheese and wonderful desserts. Very nice setting. Be sure to visit the rest of the community shops (grist mill, general store, cheese shop, etc)

Food was okay, but you're paying for the self-sustainability. The menu is somewhat limited and expensive because of this. We went on a Saturday, big mistake. There was a 45 minute wait, and then another 30 minute wait for food after we'd ordered. They didn't seem to be prepared for the crowd they draw. With two toddlers, that was way... More

Came here with party of ten ranging from 5 to 88 years of age. Everyone loved their food and the atmosphere. We ordered quite a variety of food; we had burgers, quesadillas, pastrami sandwich and all of the flavors of pie and a few had ice cream. There were no disappointments. We were too late in the day to tour... More

This was such a wonderful place! We drove out for the food, at the recommendation of Joanna Gaines. Everything is homemade and the whole place is self sustainable. They make their own flour, deserts, bread, soups, French fries...everything. Besides the delicious restaurant they have a gift shop full of quilts, wood work and other items which is great fun to... The quality of the food and creative dishes was a delight. Will have to bring the hubby here. The scenery to the area is beautiful and well worth the visit.

We went to eat at the Homestead Cafe and found so many exciting places we want to go back and visit!! The people were so sweet and the food was incredible!!! What an awesome place!! They grow all their own food, the even grind their own wheat to make their flour!!
