Best casual bbq I have ever been too. The cole slaw is delicious. The old time sodas are cool. The meat on the baked potatoe was the choice for mne.

This is a "go to" restaurant for us to take visitor to...the atmosphere is fun for those who aren't used to eating BBQ in such a casual manner, and the food is always on point!

Granted...there are Texas BBQ places that may better than Rudy's. But when you take everything Rudy's has to offer...meats, sides, desserts, and beverages...then IMHO they are the best. Moist brisket is incredible. I have brought back to Nashville 10-15 pounds of their brisket to freeze and savor later. Want an incredibly good pot roast? Cook everything except the meat as... More

Decided to try Rudy's for authentic Texas BBQ. This is no fine dining establishment, but more casual (almost upscale fast food). But homemade and delicious! You order in a take-out style line, and then find a picnic table to eat at. Your food is put on stackable carry trays - very cool. The brisket was to die for!! But, if... More

Love Rudy's!! Moist brisket is so tasty, sausage is always tender and full of flavor, and the cream corn is amazing! We stop every time we go thru Waco. Great for tailgating also cause they load up everything you need in boxes for pickup, including tablecloth, tea, condiments, and plastic ware. Go NOW!

We decided to try Rudy's and were severely disappointed. We are used to some great barbecue in Texas, but when we got our food and found out the BBQ sauce was served cold, we were stunned. It seemed more like a poor fast food restaurant that a good sit down place to go.

Vitec's for lunch and Rudy's for supper. The second we walked through the front door we were hit in the face with the smoke pits from the back… No question we were in a Texas barbecue joint, that smell was Best hospitality we received all day! Pretty self serve like you're at a big family or church picnic. Get your... More

The brisket was very good. The potato salad and baked beans were nothing out of the ordinary. I would probably not go back.

Description
Just north of San Antonio, at the edge of the Texas Hill Country, sits the small community of Leon Springs. Founded in the 1800s by Max Aue, Leon Spring's cityscape changed when Max's son, Rudolph, opened a one-stop gas station, garage, and grocery store. Bar-B-Q was added to the operation in 1989, and Rudy's "Country Store" and Bar-B-Q has been serving up tasty food ever since. The same original recipes that built Rudy's Leon Springs' reputation are now available throughout the Southwest. Our pits are 100% wood fired with oak, a slower burning wood than the mesquite used by others. Along with time and oak, we cook with a dry spice that ensures each plate of Rudy's Bar-B-Q is perfectly ready for you. Apply some of our famous "Sause" and dinner is served.
