Beautiful location on the banks of the Guadalupe river. The restaurant is housed in the former pump house of the city of Victoria water works. The food, however, is average, especially considering the price. I tried the chicken fried steak, which was the smallest and...priciest that I have tried in the whole state of Texas.More

My wife took me here for my Birthday due to the high reviews on Trip Advisor. We shall never return. My wife and I arrived at 2:00 pm. We stood at the door next to the hostess stand for over 13 minutes (yes we timed...it) before we were finally spoken to. It was then another 4 minutes before we were seated and there was no one in front of us. After we were seated, it was another 8 minutes before we were asked what we wanted to drink. We ordered as we were concerned that if we did not it would be a long time before anyone addressed us again. We ordered the pecan crusted chicken ($19) and the 12 oz ribeye black and blue ($40) and one sweet tea ($2.25). The pecan crusted chicken came out with grease setting on the top of the chicken (as shown in the picture) and the linguini being very greasy. It tasted okay, but not great and certainly caused acid reflux. The 12 oz ribeye was ordered medium and came out on the well side of medium well. The total bill with tax was $67.28 for a less than average meal and we were there for almost 2 hours due to horrible service. There was no apologies, so I am guessing that this is what they always do and is their expectation. There were two cute girls came in about 30 minutes after we were seated and the bartender, who took so long seating us, seated them very quickly (go figure). Overall, we got two meals each for the price of one (our first and last meal at this restaurant). In addition, they appeared to have plenty of staff, but the staff was standing around a lot instead of helping customers. As we were leaving, we heard three other tables having to ask for their check. Do not recommend as it was not even worth trying again just to see if it was a bad day. The only reason I gave two stars is because the food rated that but not bad enough for one star. The service was one star all the way.More

Was there tonight 4/30 around 5:30. Was excited about finally getting to eat here. Once inside we waited for the hostess and after a while a waiter ask if he could help us, we said we needed the hostess. He went to the kitchen to...get her. When she walked up she did not greet us at all and was quite rude, asked if we had a reservation, which we did not. She gave us a choice of outside or at bar and we choose outside. We noticed as we walked thru the restaurant that multiple tables had not been bussed. Once outside we noticed the same. Then we over heard the people next to us complain they had not received their food. We decided to leave, nothing around us made us want to stay.More

Good food, wonderful setting, sit in back room or outside...front room noisy. Understaffed, lots of staff in training. But, food terrific.

We really enjoyed our lunch today. Wife had crab cakes and I had grilled chicken and rice. We started with a order of nachos, which Were GREAT. It all started with a very nice hostess Showing us to our table and ended with a special...desert of the day, a bread pudding topped with a wonderful sauce. The manager checked on us several times to make sure everything was fine. We had a wonderful lunch!!More

The Guadalupe River winds through Central Texas, and past hundreds of communities. One of them is Victoria, and in Victoria is The Pumphouse Riverside Restaurant, a real surprise to us on a recent visit. The original pumphouse--a national historic site--has been converted to elegant dining,...both in door and outside. The weather was perfect for lunch on the patio. The setting is scenic and romantic, and the food and service were excellent.  We ordered the salmon and had an assortment of sides. The salmon was fresh and well grilled. The generous portions of roasted vegetables, sautéed mushrooms, and rice pilaf were equally tasty. Our server Truman, was in training but you would have never known that his attentive service. More

Based on some colorful history and major restoration post 2010, the Pump House is a perfect choice for a wonderful meal. Sit inside or, as we preferred, dine in the outdoor atmosphere from the patio deck on the bank of the Guadalupe River. Food selections...and prices range from moderate to high but there is something for everyone including a nice selection of drinks. Service was excellent and it was a relaxing way to spend a few hours.More

So lovely to sit out on the deck near the river. Nice social distancing when you want to go out but be safe.

Had to get out of the house for a while and drove to Victoria for lunch. A friend told us about this place and felt it would be safe and we were not disappointed. Food was really good, service was great and friendly and everyone...was wearing mask and gloves. They required all customers to wear mask if they were not actually sitting down at a table. My wife had the chicken fried steak and I had the BLT with fried green tomatoes and we both loved our meals. For sure will be back at some point.More

We had finished driving around Riverside Park and decided to stop here for a quick snack and a few drinks. Ethan was our server and he was proficient, polite and a great person to talk to on a slow afternoon. We snacked on the fried...green beans and the spicy aioli sauce was superb. They have a limited menu but the food items we saw being served look absolutely delicious. The hamburgers looked especially enticing! The full service bar serves up a generous pour of wine and we both enjoyed the Merlot and pino grigio we chose. The outside deck area provides a beautiful view of the Guadalupe river and we were lucky enough to have a clear blue sky and reasonable temperatures for mid June. Highly recommend a stop here to enjoy the view and wonderful food and drink.More
