Well presented meals. My chicken salad sandwich was delicious and simple. Nice young ladies serving. Good atmosphere. These are the places that make you glad you did not stop at a chain franchise. I would stop again if going through town.

Homemade soup, bread. Bar. Wonderful sandwiches. Daily lunch specials. Many sandwiches named after local luminaries.

Love historical restaurants and this meets my needs. So glad they preserved this building, but why not keep it authentic. It was very bland as a cafe. has a bar that doesn't get much use since they close early. It maintained its walls and floor, but was poor on decor and authenticity. To make it a deli again would be... While on federal jury duty downtown, I went here for lunch. It is just s very short walk and I had heard many good things about it (particularly on television shows). I ordered a Reuben, thinking it should be one of the best I've ever had, but sadly no. The corn beef was cut too thick for any real taste... More

Fossati's offers good lunch time fare in a historical building. The food was good--I got a muffaleta and soup plate, my fiance got the Dutchman's lunch which is a plate of cheeses and cold cuts and bread with spicy mustard. A nice place with lots of character.

Stopped by for lunch with some friends. Excellent chicken salad sandwich on a sub roll. Comfy table in back room gave us time to catch up and relax. Waitress was very attentive and prompt. Great experience!

This place was recommended to me by the helpful guy at the Visitor Center, and WOW was he right! It's a deli. It's not for a formal anniversary dinner or anything, but it's got good food, that comes quickly, made well, and for under $10. I had a combo - half a sandwich and a cup of soup, that was... More

The place is the historical restaurant. Foods are great as country simply foods. People are friendly and met Deaf employer who works there. That's awesome!

Fresh meat, fresh vegetables, fresh bread! The best lunch we had while in Texas for six days! The service is very competent and friendly. Wish, we could come back again, and again.

Located in the center of old downtown in a restored 1800s building, this "oldest delicatessen in Texas" was founded in the 1880s by an Italian family. The building is interesting and the service at a table (no ordering at the counter) is very efficient and friendly. Prices are very reasonable. While not a full deli (e.g. no pastrami), all the...
