Description: Chuy's is a family owned and operated Mexican restaurant that was opened...
Chuy's is a family owned and operated Mexican restaurant that was opened in 1959. Come visit us. We offer homemade Mexican food, service, and great atmosphere. We have been called an oasis in the middle of the desert on several occasions.
Many famous people have eaten at our establishment over the years. John Madden named our restaurant as the "All Madden Hall of Fame" in 1994. There are many other celebrities that have visited us and you can see pictures of them on our wall as you walk in. Every customer that walks in is a celebrity to us. Come on in sit, relax and enjoy our variety of Mexican and domestic beers, margaritas and drinks.

It may have been good in John Madden’s time but now it is very average .

We were in the mood for Mexican food and wanted to see one of the places John Madden stopped at on his road trips. Chuy’s may have been something special in the John Madden days but it very forgettable and average these days. Try it out for the history but do not expect much from the food or you... read more

I try this restaurant every five years or so...always feeling hopeful that I will have a good experience, and that I will return more often. This is supposedly John Madden's favorite restaurant. Maybe he is treated better than other patrons. They specialize in Mexican food and sports memorabilia. The employees are indifferent, amend even at lunchtime, the lighting is poor....probably... Food and service here are not good. This was the second time we ate here. The first was so long ago that we forgot how bad the place is. The menu is really lacking...the staff was nice enough but also lacking. Then again, this is Van Horn TX.

West Texas beyond El Paso on I-10E is terrible for food options. We stopped here out of desperation and were surprised and pleased by the fact that it was family owned and operated. Authentic handmade Mexican and TexMex as well as American. Good portions at a reasonable price. Look for it as there isn't many choices along the way. The... More

My husband & I enjoy this place. We stop here when taking road trips east. The service is always excellent and the food is good. I had the chicken enchiladas this time. The green sauce is very well flavored, not too hot and lots on the plate. My husband had the chicken tacos and said they were great. They serve... More

Very good authentic Mexican food. Not Tex Mex. And certainly not what we have to deal with back east. We ate here on New year's day 2003 and have spoken fondly of Chuy's many times. This was the first time we had headed this far west since. We were delighted that they are still going strong.

Just passing by and visiting from Mexico we felt like trying something familiar. We were not disappointed. The food was just like back home. Typical road side restaurant with a lot of sports memorabilia. Could be catalogued as sports bar.

This restaurant is not very clean. The staff is friendly and eager to serve you. The food how ever is not authentic Mexican food. Taste like t.v. dinner warmed up in microwave. Don't waste your money here. John Madden hall of famer has not been there since 1995. And now I know why. Fake Mexican food.

Had a typical Mexican combo supper. Chips good, sauce pretty spicy! Service good as well. Would return on another trip through Van Horn

After traveling almost 11 hours, we once again asked our motel desk clerk for recommendations for various restaurants - this was one of them. We both love Mexican food & as my husband is Mexican, we have eaten some of the best. Our waitress was Elena & she was very friendly & accommodating. The chips & salsa were great, which... More
