Tried to go Sunday morning, Oct. 30, 2022, for breakfast based on great reviews. Unfortuantely, there was a sign on the door that said "Permanently Closed."

If you want a break from the fast food chains, this is a great place to stop. A few blocks off the interstate and located in a neighborhood. Almost feels like you’re going the wrong direction, but trust your google maps to get there. The...salsa is definitely fresh and oh so tasty. Be prepared to handle a little heat. Be sure to get the Mexican Coke in a bottle too! Local state troopers were eating there also, so that has to be a good sign! Prices aren’t too bad and you will leave full.More
Great, inexpensive breakfast burritos. They were filling and coffee was decent. Of the places to go this one hit the spot.
This restaurant was recommended by our hotel staff. It was a short walk, apx 0.5 mile. Restaurant staff were unremarkable. Difficult to order as they were out of several items on the menu. Food was ultimately bland at best, not bad but dull.
Off of the beaten path, this small restaurant provided us with an exception Mexican lunch. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The meals were served hot and in avery timely fashion and the prices were extremely reasonable. All of the above are the reasons...that when next our travels include Van Horn, Lizzy's will be our lunch destination. On A Note Of Information, They offer either red or green chilies, however, if you ask for CHRISTMAS, You will receive both as I did. Please also keep in mind that the meals are spicy.More
Excellent food, good portions, tasty, and reasonably priced. The Mexican plate was yummy. Highly recommend the smothered burritos. Staff was friendly.
Food was excellent..definitely will return..guacamole great, torta great, chicken quesadilla and beef flautas great..homemade authentic mexican food and very friendly staff
The Chile rellenos were awful as were the rice and beans. Don’t know what others rated this place on but I’m not going back
We were passing through Van Horn and found Lizy's using Trip Advisor, otherwise we wouldn't have found it. The restaurant is nowhere near the highway. We showed up on a Saturday about 1:30 (check the hours). The service was prompt and friendly. The food (Flautas...and a Mexican Plate) was authentic and AMAZING! We would absolutely go back!More
When passing through Van Horn, we asked at the local grocery store where to eat and they recommended Lizy's. You have to eat here. The salsa and chips are amazing, nice thick chips. We had the flautas and the taco's rancheros. Very good flavor. Service...was great.More
I'm from Van Horn, but live elsewhere now. I ate their there this past weekend and let me tell you it was wonderful. From the salsa, to my asado, to the burgers my mother/wife/daughter got, and even the kids' chicken strips. Just Awesome! Lizy's wil...be a go to from now on.More
We were travelling through Van Horn and wanted somewhere for lunch and found Lizy's by chance. We were so glad we did. We were told to sit anywhere and found a comfy booth. We were immediately brought chips and lovely salsa. We ordered, an appetizer...of guacamole which was freshly made, beef flat enchiladas with red sauce for me and my husband had the chicken enchiladas with green sauce which was very spicy but good. Both these were served with beans and rice. The service was good and the food was excellent. It's certainly worth a visit if you're in the area for lunch.More
Great Mexican Food! They close at 3pm They make great red enchiladas and gorditas! Great Menudo on the weekends and yummy breakfast
On a whim, we stopped for lunch in Van Horn. Trip Advisor directions led us here and it was delicious. You can't go wrong if you are looking for traditional Tex Mex food, properly prepared and served. You can tell that it is a local's...favorite and rightly so!More
We dropped by after trying the dreadful breakfast at our hotel, El Capitan, and were wowed by the genuine friendliness and helpfulness. My egg and cheese burrito was great and the coffee is fine.
