Les and Carol Ellsworth opened The Potpourri House in September 1982 as a tea room in a yellow 1904 Victorian home on Front Street in Tyler. The Ellsworths made many trips to Europe to furnish the new restaurant - and every piece of furniture could be purchased by customers, including their table and chairs! Several years later, The Potpourri House moved to the Off Broadway Shopping Center and incorporated a Victorian-themed garden, with a Women's Boutique and Gift Shop. Our current 16,000 square foot location at 3320 Troup Highway has been the home of Potpourri since 1998 and continues the tradition of being Tyler's most unique shopping and dining experiences. The Potpourri House is the perfect event venue for your business meeting, seminar, fundraiser, luncheon, family reunion, wedding, wedding reception, rehearsal dinner, bridal shower, baby shower, award ceremony, birthday party, anniversary party, Christmas party, graduation party - whatever the occasion! Let us cater an event at your location for up to 800 people. The Ellsworth family still owns and operates the Potpourri House over 30 years later and believes in supporting family relationships. We seek to instill our values into the business at every level, including being closed on Sundays and major holidays to allow our staff to enjoy time with their own families. Whether you come to dine, shop or celebrate, the Potpourri experience is like none other in East Texas!

Great place to shop and eat.

Great food and service. Love the buffet, has a nice variety of salads and soups. Also has baked potatoes. Great place for shopping also. You can find lots of nice things from Pandora charms to clothing and everything in between.

The salad bar is one-of-a-kind with several types of salads such as cornbread salad, pimento cheese, broccoli salad. It also has some of the best soups around, and a baked potato area and fresh fruit, all included in the salad bar trip. You can order off of the menu as well. After eating with a friend, a stroll through the... More

This place should definitely be on your itinerary when you visit Tyler! There is a store inside on each side of the restaurant with jewelry, clothes, home décor, etc. that you can spend a lot of time in; they have precious things and the sales people are so very nice and accommodating. The restaurant itself has great food and the... More

Way overrated. Food was nothing special. Prices were exorbitant. The owner, Les, is looking to milk those enamored by overpriced gift shop. Skip this and go to Traditions for similar meal.

Stopped here with a group of 8 friends. Very accomodating by providing a quiet secluded area so we could visit. Food was excellent. Everything was great. Waitress, Savanagh, was so sweet and helpful. Went back the next day with some of the same group but added another couple. Called ahead and got the same room. Unable to get same waitress... More

I love Potpourri House! I've been there many times, most recently for my birthday. Their salad bar can't be beat - the pimento cheese is to die for. It's the only pimento cheese I will eat. I always love their soups and crispy breads. I've also been for rehearsal dinners and their catering menu is very good too. I've never... More

We recently had lunch at The Potpourri House in Tyler, Texas. Christmas was in the air with all the Christmas decorations on display. We were not sure our husbands would like eating here but we were pleasantly surprised! The salad/potato bar was perfect for them since they could make several trips to fill their plates, including banana pudding. The spiced... More

I have always enjoyed eating here. Salad bar is fresh with great homemade soups, plus baked potato bar. Their signature hot spiced tea is always a hit with my family. The desserts are always fresh and delicious as well. Try the coconut cake. You won't be disappointed.
