I travel to Houston occasionally and last night I stumbled upon my favorite Tex-Mex restaurant. Escalante's has a great bar area (with pro football on!), superb and dedicated staff, classy but not pretentious atmosphere, and great, fresh food. I love this place, and will be going back next time I am in Houston!

The spinach enchilada was just average. It was listed as their specialty dish. Not rushing back for another shot at the menu. The service and ambience and locarion are great!

Mexican fusion would be the best way to describe the food. More upbeat and contemporary than the typical Mexican restaurant. Parking can sometimes be a little difficult especially on week ends because it's in Sugar Land Town Center, but worth the walk. Love sitting on the patio when it's not too hot.

Enjoyed every bite. Our table shared the rack of tacos, beef enchiladas, beef chimichunga, queso and of course margaritas. Service was excellent with a charming atmosphere. I'd been in Greece for 3 weeks, loving their traditional food, but the first food I wanted upon my return was Mexican. ..from Escalantes.

My buddy and I were having a great time at the bar trying every combination of Margarita they could mix. We moved to the dining room where the night lit up. Service was excellent. Our waiter kept the drinks coming and the appetizers moving. During which time we made friends with the Mariachis. Our main request was to NOT play... More

Met former colleagues of my husband's, along with one of their wives & small son, for lunch while staying with friends in the area. Interesting to get a take on this slightly upmarket 'chain' Tex-Mex restaurant in a smart development as compared to the local, family-owned Mexican restaurant we had lunch at yesterday! I had the same thing - cheese... More

We had a very nice meal here. Good salsa and big portions. Would recommend if you're in Sugar Land and feeling Mexican.
