Whenever we get hungry for shrimp, Dirty Al's is where we go. It is a must for all first time visitors. Very casual! We have never been disappointed by the food here. Sometimes, service can be off, or it can get very crowded!!! But, always worth it. This trip, Maria was our server. She always goes overboard. Even remembers what... More

This is a run of the mill seafood restaurant with fried fish and nothing special on the menu or in the decour to bring you back.

Plastic beer cups, plastic cutlery, plastic tables set the mood for this funky, grub diner. Very, very casual dining experience but the row of motorcycles parking on the sidewalk in front of the building should have been the first indication. This is a rough, no frills joint for good grub and it certainly gets the job done well. Fresh seafood... More

Thank you for taking the time to review Dirty Al’s, and we appreciate the details. Dirty Al’s is the original dive transformed from a bait stand into a restaurant, with a very casual atmosphere, where customers can walk right up from the beach. In keeping with that tradition, it is kept simple and fast paced. We look forward to your... More

Fish poboy was ok. Probably was tilapia. Shrimp poboy was also good. Fries were ok. Bread was on a par with a hotdog bun. Average value. Have eaten here several times over the past several years and will go again.

Dirty Al's is not exactly dirty inside, but it is reminiscent of a diner. Not a place to impress your date, but a darn good place to fill up on fried seafood and beer. A nice surprise was the $10 fresh grilled or blackened drum. The fish was perfectly cooked and the Mojo de Ajo (garlic topping) was amazing. The... More

This is my first and last visit in 2017. The shrimp were very small and tastless. Fish was all bread and snapper was full of bones. Al was not on site and would recommend he stop in for a meal.

We went here for lunch because we saw all the good reviews and they were spot on. This place has a great laid back vibe and serves up large portions. We loved the blackened calamari and the fresh fish lunch special. We will definitely be back next time we are on the island.

About Us
Dirty Al’s has been in operation since 1986 and has always provided the freshest seafood to thousands of visitors from all over the world.
As a family owned and operated business, we have always taken great pride in taking care of each customer and providing them with a unique experience that they can only get from eating at Dirty Al’s. Dirty Al promises every customer that they will only be served the absolute freshest seafood caught in the wild off the Gulf of Mexico.
A Father and his Sons Make a Great Team!
Alfonso Salazar, better known as “Dirty Al” originally started shrimping as a young man with his father and 6 brothers. In 2003, he and his youngest son, Cameron, who graduated from Culinary School, transformed his bait stand into a restaurant where together they have been known for having “The World’s Best Fried Shrimp”! In 2005, his other two sons returned home to help grow the business. To this day, they now own 6 restaurants on beautiful South Padre Island and continue to bring only the “best” Gulf Seafood to each customer’s table.
