Small bar.... Organic food... Steak and mash is always good....
Average wait time for food is about... 20 min
Average food ticket is about 30.00 a person.
Steak night took a long time lol with only 6 people in the place at 6pm.
In town for a couple of extended stays due to a family medical challenge, I found this place using the proximity search option on google maps. I am glad I decided to give it a go. The menu doesn’t cast too wide a net, which...allows the kitchen to focus. The food here is fresh and thoughtfully presented. The staff is efficient, engaging and professional. If you are staying at one of the hotels near NRG, make it a point to try this place. It’s a sports bar with real food. At the comfortable (but maybe a tad tight) bar, Garrett will pull you a beer or shake something up. If I lived here, this would be my spot.More
Sat at the bar for the Astros game this past Saturday and had a great experience. The bartenders were extremely attentive and professional. It really makes a difference when a place has great bartenders! Food was delicious too! All Houston beers on draft as well.
They got rid of all their daily specials! Photo of new happy hour specials attached, but they no longer last all day only until 6. What happens to the people who get out of work late??
Chicken tacos are also significantly different now - spicier...and less fluffy. Margaritas for $3 is gone as well.
There's a check-in special for a glass of free wine. Service was quick and efficient. Nice ambiance.More
When you live in a large city like Houston, dining out presents countless options. But one option that is in short supply is organic food- you might see the occasional food item on a restaurant menu that is labeled as organic certified, but you don’t...often find restaurants where all of the food carries the usda organic label. One restaurant that, I am happy to report, is all organic is On the Kirb.
On the Kirb is classified as a sports bar, but it has a somewhat different look and feel than your typical sports bar. The inside is a little darker, for one thing, and you won’t find sports memorabilia on the walls. The only things that tell you this is a sports bar are the many televisions, usually all tuned to sports. This makes it a little different than other establishments of its type. The noise level, however, is right in line with a sports bar so don’t come here if you’re looking for a quiet, relaxing evening on the town. It’s not very big, either, so be prepared for a possible wait for a table. There is a small amount of outdoor seating, too, open when the weather is right.
With the food, it is all certified organic as far as I can tell. The menu consists of appetizers, sandwiches, tacos, wood fired pizza, and a few other options. I tried a burger, wrap, and tacos when I last visited and I found them all excellent. Each was well- prepared and very fresh and delicious. I like that they also label items if they are vegan and they place a symbol next to items that are vegetarian. This is useful for those who want to watch what they eat. You don’t have to bother asking because the categories are indicated.
Drinks are excellent at On the Kirb, too. I almost always go for beer and there is much to choose from at this sports bar. Cocktail lovers will find many good options as well, even if the prices are a little steep. I recommend visiting during happy hour to try things out first, since you can save a little money and find out what you prefer.
On the Kirb has limited parking, so don’t be surprised if the lot is completely full when you arrive. Depending on the time of day, they will have valet service available. It’s a good enough service and there is no charge, but please be sure to leave your driver a tip.
Healthy eating is important and On the Kirb wants you to eat healthier. It’s organic menu plus vegetarian and vegan options set it apart and the quality of the food and variety of beer and drinks is very good. I like to think of On the Kirb as an upscale bar and restaurant that happens to show sports rather than a sports bar that is also a restaurant, but that’s just my opinion. Any way you look at it, On the Kirb is an excellent restaurant and one that is deserving of a visit.More
Located on the corner of a small strip center on Kirby next to McDonalds and across the street from Armadillos, On The Kirb is an amazing neighborhood bar/restaraunt. Parking free early in evening and then valet for tips later. Food menu amazing with lots of...choices far better than most bar menus. Drink menu extensive as are the draft and bottled beers. Wait staff was amazing. Gabby is friendly, helpful and very aware of available foods and drinks. Televisions abound for sports events and live music available in the evenings. Great feel to a very comfortable place to eat and drink.More
On Tuesday, 5/15/18, a group of 12 of us had reservations at 8pm. The Cavaliers and Celtics game was on and we were seated in front of the huge TV. This place has TVs throughout so every seat is great.
We ordered a variety of...appetizers from wings, queso, and hummus. My friends loved all of their alcoholic drinks and beers. For dinner, we ordered a variety of pizzas, burgers, and salads. I had the build your own pizza with onions, mushroom, and olives. We all enjoyed our food and the portions were generous in size. We also a ordered a variety of desserts from cheesecake, Italian cream cake, and espresso chocolate cake. The desserts were fantastic.
Overall, our experience was GREAT. This restaurant was recommended by our hotel concierge and we were very pleased. I highly recommend this place.More
I had passed by this place months ago and saw that it served organic food, so when my husband and I were looking for a place to eat for lunch, I remembered this place that I wanted to try. I was not disappointed. I had...a chicken Schwarma wrap. It was delicious. It came with hummus and chips which were good too. The place was busy so we found some street parking about a block away. I did rule this place out for bringing a group to because it was too loud to be able to visit with a group and tables and booths are for small parties of diners.More
