Not qualified to serve Redfish. My husband ordered the blackened redfish tacos. They were edible, but he spent the entire meal pulling scales out of his mouth. Before we left, I politely informed the waiter so that the kitchen could pay closer attention to the...fish for future orders. I overheard the waiter telling the owner and the owner’s response was, “It’s fresh fish. Fresh fish have scales.” Unpleasant meal and unpleasant owner. But our waiter was great.More

We ordered burgers for lunch. The burgers were excellent but honestly, who wants to pay $17 for one burger and small cup of fries? The noise level was so loud that we gave up trying to talk. I doubt we will go back.

My wife and adult daughter found this place on an earlier shopping trip. Both raved about the place and told me we all had to go back. We went. My girls were not engaging in hyperbole. Everything, from drinks at the bar to our steak...and seafood were outstanding. (I grew up on a cattle ranch, and know beef). My wife is an escargot junkie, and she had a heavenly look while enjoying them. All the servers, starting with the bartender who gladly shared her recipe for what has to be the world’s best Old Fashioned, to the two who took of us at dinner, were faultless. Pay no attention to the mouth breathers on Yelp. Some folks are never happy. You can go to Ruth’s Chris, Morton’s or Bohannon’s; you won’t find better steak, wine selection or service. I have NO desire to drive to San Marcos, but I can be enticed if Cody’s is on the itinerary.More

We were driving to Austin and there was an accident so we pulled off to eat and found this gem of a restaurant called Cody's. John the bartender was amazing and the food was exceptional! The fish tacos were so good I could not believe...we were in the tiny little side street shopping center. The place is decorated beautifully and the bathrooms even had mouthwash. Everything you expect from a 5 star restaurant this little place had. The drinks were so good and not standard stuff, special homemade Cody picked and refined. I recommend this place highly!More

Go to Zaxbys across the street next time for your chicken tenders.

Gave up red meat for lent ...Fantastic pork. Easily best I have had! This place is a diamond in the rough! Patio out back is rustic, but comfortable. 5 star dinning in a strip mall location...Wow!

I wish I had taken photos because this was exceptional! We started with lightly seared tuna and Brie - extremely savory - then moved on to the hickory smoked salmon (amazing flavor, cooked perfectly) and scallops (my dish was so delicious that I didn’t try...my husband’s dish) and wrapped up with a pastry dessert (light, fluffy with chocolate). The ambiance was fun, relaxing and enjoyable. The music was spot on and our waitress, Tanya, was friendly and attentive. Wish we had this restaurant in my hometown!More

I have only been here for lunch, usually with business folks. The food is excellent and service is mostly fairly quick. I have not partaken, but I understand their cocktails are really good! Highly recommended for a lunch venue.

I visit San Marcos once a year for an annual conference. Our group discovered a new restaurant (Cody's) in San Marcos. The place is decorated very nice, the staff is very friendly and efficient and then the food is terrific. Looking forward to coming back...next year!!More

Nice experience for an earlier dinner. The service was great and friendly. The food was also overall good but they have steakhouse prices and we all agreed you can get the same steak at Texas Roadhouse. It definitely was not Myrons in New Braunfels. Additionally...they charge extra for sides and they aren’t shareable. Enjoyable although for the price point I would consider going up the road. Lunch was much more reasonable and probably what we’d opt for in the future.More

Tried Cody’s on a whim after some shopping at the nearby “Outlet Mall”. Was blown away by the quality of food, thoughtful menu and craft cocktail bar. Well worth the stop & plan to return soon.

This place needs to decide if it’s a bar or a restaurant with a bar. It serves good food that is over priced. I especially recommend the shrimp appetizers, The burgers need more beyond the meat and the margaritas are too sweet. The wait staff...are indifferent with a bar like mentality. The place is different but do you want to pay the price?More

Cody's is locally owned and run - and yes, there is a real Cody. We've been to the restaurant every time we are in town and he has always been there. The steaks, burgers and desserts (choc molton cake with a dusting of bacon -...& ice cream) are just phenomenal. I am extremely picky about my steaks and eat out at finerestaurants probably 3 times per week for 40 years. NEVER have I had such a great steak! The ambiance, service and food are beyond compare. Love it. Only thing wrong with the restaurant is that it is fairly small. Make reservations on weekends.More
