Impressed with the freshly prepared array of dishes provided for our family.
If you like more heat or savoury then just add what you like to your taste with the extra sauces containers with each meal.
A bit of a struggle in getting across that...I need one Gluten Free meal ie rice noodles and no spring rolls (language barrier). Success in the end with the lovely front desk staff.
Big car park out front and our order was ready in quick time.More
Auntie's around the Austin area again :)
3.5 stars overall. R2G is consistent and convenient for busy weeknights. So we thank ye.
The family has dropped in for to-go orders plenty-o-times ever since they first opened their doors.
Usual orders include:
*Vietnamese rice plate
Grilled...pork or lemongrass chicken served w/egg, tomato, cucumber over rice and a side of fish sauce
Rice noodle soup w/onions plus a choice of protein served w/bean sprouts, cilantro, basil, jalapeño, and lime wedge
*Shakin' steak (bo luc lac)
Marinated steak cubes w/onions served over lettuce + tomatoes w/a side of lemon dip sauce
We've gotta remember to order other entrees but honestly when in a rush we pick these.
The folks are friendly and there're a few seats available while waiting for the order.
This area doesn't have much lunch/dinner competition/options which benefit R2G so far. Hoping they'll continue to have a steady flow of fans to keep them here.More
Pro's - convienent to my house, friendly/helpful staff, lots of food for the $, Crispy Walnut was full of meat and wonderful candied walnuts and crisp broccoli and snow peas.
Con's- the rest of the food was disappointing. I got white rice, my husband fried...rice, his rice had a couple peas and was darker in color than my rice but a very poor fried rice. My soup was egg drop, my husbands was hot and sour that looked like my egg drop with a couple mushrooms and hot/sour sauce added. The Tangy Orange was not Tangy (had one hot pepper thrown on top, must not have been cooked with the food as it had none of the flavor, the broccoli and snow pea were overcooked and limp (the other dish was not that way). Because of the inconsistencies< I will give them another try but will ask the helpful staff what is full of flavor and not overcooked veggies.More
Another of my new-favorite Chinese restaurants -- and this one delivers. We have already been to Rice2Go in the short time they've been open, and we haven't been disappointed yet. The prices may seem a little higher than average, but the portion size more than...makes up for it. Each entree serves at *least* two.More
