If you're a meat lover, you should visit this restaurant. The food is incredibly delicious. I personally like their lamb gyro. The kebabs, pitas bread, hummus, babganoush are so yum. It's irresistible. No matter loaded you're, you want to eat more. Try to get their...early to avoid long wait times, but they work very hard to keep wait time minimal. It's worth waiting. Can be bit pricey, but food let you forget the price. I absolutely love this place and I hope you get to visit it soon.More
This is a great mideastern restaurant , buffet style service for 15 USD , which includes quality dishes from salads and tabouleh and hummus to main entrees like Shish Kebab and grilled chicken . Drinks and sides included. The place is humming at lunch time....More
Been here several times. Kind of the local fusion version of Mediterranean and Greek food. Lots of meat dishes, chicken, kofta, gyro type meat and full table of veggies, hummus, tsatsiki, desserts, grilled and roasted veggies along with fresh pitas. Crowded with many middle eastern...folks, so must be authentic, right?More
I have wanted to eat at Ali Baba for some time due to the great reviews online. My son and I tried to go here for lunch a few months ago and it was so jammed packed, with lines coming out the door, that we...gave up and went elsewhere. We decided to try again today.
The parking lot was full and there were a few families waiting for large tables, but we were able to get seated quickly since we were a party of two. We were led to a table at the back near the hall to the restrooms and more or less dropped off there with no instructions. Well, it's a buffet - not that hard to figure out. LOL.
The buffet area was, in my son's words, "like a war zone." We weren't dodging bullets but you DID have to dodge people swarming everywhere. I'd give the service a 3 out of 5 and the atmosphere a 2 -- but OMG, the food! On a scale of 1 to 5, it deserves a 10.
Now I know the reason for the packed parking lot and five star reviews. Hands down best Mediterranean food I've had in DFW and maybe anywhere outside of, well, the Mediterranean region. Saffron rice AND saffron chicken to put on top of it? Be still, my beating heart. The spanakopita was great, too - very flakey phyllo and the spinach filling was the right consistency. The pita was baked just right, not overdone/burned as is often the case. And the "ziki ziki" sauce was delicious.
Price was very decent - $17 and that includes soft drinks (although I don't drink them; I just had water). The only thing that would have made it all taste better would have been if you could get wine to drink with it, but since I was driving, I couldn't have done that today anyway.
If you ever have a hankering for Mediterranean food and you're in the eastern part of the DFW metroplex and don't mind fighting the crowds, this is the place to go.More
We have been visiting this restaurant for past many years from the time it was located on Preston. We had a very rude experience with a waiter who perhaps does not like certain kind fo people. May be she got bad tips in the past,...but her his summery of what happened: Quality of meals is always good but I had a horrible experience on 21 October around 7:30 PM. we were "served" by a young woman with accent. She assured me that they were very busy. I ordered a glass of wine and food. I saw this young lady talking to customers on a near by table and lounging around in general. All our food, including appetizers showed up at one time but wine never arrived. Order seemed to be hurriedly prepared and only part of the order was served. I tried to draw this woman's attention but she couldn't bothered. Finally I did confront her about her apparent lack of care and she kept insisting that she was busy. I pointed out that She was talking to a near by table for about seven eight minutes. Finally she brought a glass of wine but it was white wine and I have ordered Kasra, red wine very clearly. I have ordered this about 20 times before. She stayed flippant and rude through out. When we checked out we paid at the counter and I was not going to pay a tip but I felt for the people who brought food to the table and the bus boys, so I tipped 15% which is the lowest tip that I give. They did not charge me for the wine that arrived as I was halfway through the meal. Quality fo food was good as usual but after having such a horrible experience I am not sure that I would go back. I hope the owner sees this review. Owner's other family members that have served me in the past have been very friendly and helpful. Stay away from the slim dark haired 20 something waiter. She is horrid. I probably won't go back for a while if ever. If she is there I am walking. I have rated this restaurant at a four or five on other sites in the past. It used to be my favorite. I may call the owner and tell him what happened. Sad indeed.More
