You wait in line, order your food then they bring it to you. The line was long, the place was packed. They did warn us that there may be a wait for seating but we didn't have much trouble finding a seat for 4 of us. Parents would send their kids to sit /stand at a table to save it for them even before some people left. A restaurant near where we live has this same set up except they have signs that say you wait until you order to get a seat, no saving, and that flow seems to work very well. Bar was backed up with people wanting drinks and the first gal I got at the bar was friendly as could be. The next two times I got one that was not. Food was good and considering the crowd, arrived quickly.

We sat at an outside table with our dogs and enjoyed a view of the wharf. Food was very good and unexpected since you must order at the counter and wait to be called. My companions ordered the fish tacos, shrimp tacos and grilled catch of the day, all served with rice and beans. They all commented on how good these dishes were. I hit the jackpot with the seared and sliced tuna served over veggies. It was melt in your mouth and I'll order it again on our next visit.

This was not a bad place to eat but not the greatest seafood I have ever ate. The prices were a little expensive for some of the portions that were given. We kinda wanted a seafood restaurant experience and this was basically fast food. You order at the counter and they do bring the food out to you but you get your own drinks and condiments and we ended up picking up our own table with the price we paid we should have not had to do that. The food tasted good but was just average. The outside area is nice to sit at but we won't come back. There has to be a better experience for Gulf Seafood.

We were 4 couples and everyone ordered something different and all were disappointed. You have to stand in line to order, serve your own drinks, get your set ups, napkins and condiments yourself. My fish was dry and fishy tasting, my husbands boiled shrimp was flavorless! Our friends had chowder that was Luke warm. Our friends salad was wilted, shrimp tacos were not blackened as ordered, one friend ordered the burger for $14.00 and didn’t think it was worth the price!! Not going back there.

Ate at Grumble’s on the recommendation of a friend. It was my husband, teen son, and myself. You order at a counter and then have food delivered to your table. The positive was a friendly staff. The food, however, was just not very good and was overpriced for the portions. My husband ordered fried shrimp which was over cooked and had little or no breading. The fries were ok the platter was $22 which included 9 small shrimp. I had a $16 blackened shrimp rice bowl. There were 6 very small shrimp the bowl was mostly rice and lettuce. Overall, I would not suggest eating here. Port Aransas is still a fishing town. Not a lot of options for acceptable restaurants

Came to Port Aransas on Friday, 4-23-21. Looking for a place to eat, we happened to find Grumbles Seafood Company. It’s brand NEW. The atmosphere, the wait staff, and food aroma convinced us to stay. As we walked in, we got a menu and sat down. Soon a young guy asked if it was our first time. He then explained the “how to”. You order at the counter and given a “tracker”. You place it on you table and the wait staff will track you down at your table and bring your order. We ordered a pound of boiled shrimp and 2 beers. The order came within 5 minutes. The shrimp was nice and cold. No heavy spices or added flavors. Just simply fresh Port A shrimp. The person who took our order asked if this was our first time and showed us the options. She was patient and professional. But the big difference was the guy who explained the how to when we first sat down. He sincerely welcomed us as if we were the only customers in the place. He was friendly, relaxed, and informative. Coming out as the pandemic eases, it’s so rewarding to see people in restaurant business who really want you as a customer. We’ll be back for sure.

I have to give Grumbles a kudo for the thoroughness in this restaurant design to eliminate as much overhead as possible, very basic interior architecture, walkup to order, and everything else is serve yourself.. from beverages, eating utensils, condiments, all of it, even the bar you have to walk up and order at the bar and carry your drinks back to your table, cut out all that overhead…nice. Ate at Grumbles on Sunday July 3, 2022, we were looking around for a place to eat some fresh seafood in Port Aransas, we decided to try out this place over the others, fist mistake. Like I mentioned above, you and have to order at a walk-up counter like a takeout joint, very limited menu, and very expensive for what you get, my wife and I thought we would try the stuffed flounder, it was served with the Grumbles style rice and one side. After we ordered, we were informed that the food wait was one hour, looked at the time and it was too late to go anywhere else so we decided to stay (already paid for it anyway). Had to wait for a table to open up to sit down, (like is mentioned above all self-service) 1 hr and 10min later we got our meal, which was a complete disappointment, a small piece of flounder setting on a bed of white rice with a scoop of crab stuffing on top (not stuffed as the menu described) the Grumble style rice was dry white rice (dang sure nothing special about that), the one side was the seasonal veggies which was steamed carrots (under cooked), the cost was $31.00 for that, we also ordered a piece of Key Lime Pie (my favorite pie) it was $8.00 a slice and a very thin slice at that, the main entrée was mediocre at best, the pie was nothing short of disgusting, it was not chilled and had a very harsh taste of metal, could not eat it. It doesn’t bother me to pay for good food and the service to go with it, but charging that much and you don’t have the service either, not cool!!!!

Absolutely fantastic addition to Port Aransas. Water view, beers, cocktails, fresh fish, and a great staff, what else could you ask for? Prices are on par with other similar restaurants in the area. We were served our appetizers less than 5 minutes after ordering and our food shortly followed. I look forward to returning again in the future. We enjoyed the crab/corn hushpuppies to start. We also enjoyed the seared and sliced tuna starter as a meal. One of us got a house fried combo basket and the other the burger. Highlights of this meal were definitely sitting outside and enjoying the evening view and the freshness of the tuna. For those wanting heavily fried food, this is not your place. Batter on the fried shrimp was perfectly light and you are still able to enjoy the freshness of the shrimp without feeling overbreaded and oily.

This is the tourist-trap place everyone is hoping to avoid when they're on vacation. Take this one OFF your list; best we found at Port A was the Plaza Mexican restaurant. The prices at Grumbles were high, quality/quantity of food was bad, and service was poor. My blackened redfish special did NOT taste fresh at all and I doubt it was even redfish as it tasted just like it came out of a frozen box. This ended up being the same tasteless and dried out filet that my son got as his "fish sticks" and the exact same filet that came on my brothers fish tacos. All dishes were completely tasteless. Sadly even the shrimp cocktail was overcooked and served with minimal shrimp. THIS PLACE IS ON THE GULF!!! How do you fail on a shrimp cocktail?

Had a large family group for dinner and this was the perfect place! Counter ordering helped split the bill. Then we ate outside on the water at a large table. It did take a little while to get our food on a busy Saturday nite, but we already had drinks and enjoyed watching the sunset. The Port a shrimp bowl was delicious! Will definitely return.

Grumbles used to be one of our regular stops for trips to Port A. They have now been eliminated for anything other than drinks and appetizers after our lunch experience. Our bill was $100 and included two adult lunches, two kids meals, and one margarita. The price alone seemed excessive but the quality of the food was the true sinker. My husband remarked that his fish tacos seemed fishy. I blew it off bc he’s not a fish eater. Then I tasted my sons fried fish. It was so awful I couldn’t even swallow it. I went to the front to tell the kids working there they needed to tell the cooks to check the fish and one replied “oh, we use mahi mahi and it has a tendency to taste “fishy”…to which I replied, I’ve been eating mahi my entire life. This fish tastes horrific and y’all are going to make people sick. They didn’t get a manager or anything. Just stared at me. Last time we go there.

At Grumbles a white woman ran to the door to close it as we (people of color) walked up, then turned around and looked back at her male friend as she shrugged her shoulders and returned to her seat. We took the menu and as soon as we began placing our order the cashier said the kitchen was closed. We asked if we could get drinks and she said the bar was closed too. The restaurant was full of whites. No one was leaving anytime soon. The restaurant was not closing for another 5 hours.

Basic seafood with limited menu. Wasn’t your typical seafood restaurant. You stand in line to order your food, get your own drinks, silverware and condiments. I had fried shrimp, which was dry and not flavorful, reminded me food wise on the level of Long John Silvers. Will definitely not come here again, much better seafood options here.

Nice new building, but that is where most of the good experience ends. No table ordering- you must stand in line to order and pay at the counter. Then take your empty cup and get your drinks. Don't forget to get your silverware and condiments. Pretty much like dining at a hamburger joint. I order the fried fish and shrimp plate- Pricey at $27. I was very displeased with the order. Flounder was soggy and batter fell off the fish. Shrimp and fries pretty dry and tasteless. You can do much better at Beach St Station or Trout Street. Pros: Glass of wine not bad at $9- good pour. Staff was friendly.

They got my wife's order wrong. The carrier - they do not have a wait staff - took it back and set it on a counter. After 30 minutes, my wife went and found a manager who finally managed to get the order out. My order was marginally edible. I used paper towels to wipe their sauce off of about a third before giving up and leaving the rest. If you want fried shrimp and french fries, it would be a fine place.
