This place is pretty close to home. Usually order to go. They have changed to cheap styrofoam boxes and the portions have become significantly smaller. Most times my order is also wrong. Sadly, this was my last visit and will not be back.

There was a time that the Black-eyed Pea was so popular for families with little kids, you couldn't get a seat, That ended a few decades ago. They moved a few times and generally haven't changed much since they opened. The food is tired and so bland, that Luby's comes and steals their recipes for the senior set that can't... More

Good food and quiet atmosphere. Every dish was delicious and the only criticism I have is that the steak I ordered, was a bit on the tough side.

I know I will get as close to a homecook meal as I would with family coming here - and I often come here! Great deals for seniors and the service is kind and helpful.

Service was a little slow but they are mostly senior citizens. I love that though, and I plan to leave a very nice tip. The food was awesome, chicken fried chicken and my husband had the bar b que chicken. Both were moist and full of flavor. Will definitely come again.

My mother wanted Black- eyed Pea for dinner today so we stopped by and picked up takeout for my wife, mom, the in-laws, and I. Order was ready in 15min and they pulled out every meal to verify accuracy. Everything was exactly as ordered and a few plates were special order. I had the Atlantic whitefish with broccoli and carrots... More

As stated above, all the Black Eyed Peas in Dallas have closed. But, if you don't mind the drive, you can still get the food that they were noted for at the Dixie House in the Lakewood area. The food there is every bit as good as the Black Eyed Pea at it's prime with what is basically the same... More

We stopped in here for dinner on A Thursday night and the place was almost full. We were greeted and seated promptly. Our waitress was pleasant and meal was served at a relaxed pace. I had chicken fired chicken and it was delicious. The red beans and rice were spiced perfectly. We loved the yeast rolls.

We keep trying this location because it's the only one near us and we love the food, but the wait staff is always awful. We thought at first it was just one or two people but no, every time our waiter is grumpy and not attentive.

Liked the "sling tea" and the meatloaf was good, collared greens and coleslaw were my "sides". I recommend them
