We love trying different Latin cuisines and my husband found Lima Taverna to try. During the pandemic we have done very limited take out but we needed a break from my cooking so tried them out. Wow! After reading the reviews we tried three dishes,...two I found via recommendations & one that just sounded good. All were exceptional but the ceviche mixto was the most outstanding of the three. If you like ceviche, it is a must order. The proteins in this ceviche are shrimp, fish and calamari. The base (I believe) is coconut milk and lots of lime. Also in the dish are cilantro, purple onion, sweet potatoes & Peruvian corn. The flavor is unique and a bit spicy, somewhat like a Thai dish. The sweet potatoes for example tasted spicy. The combination of all those flavors will have you drinking the sauce through the last drop. The empanada appetizer is smallish, with one empanada. The green sauce provides a fresh note to the rich filling. The pastry crust is skillfully made and tender. After we finished it we were wishing for more. The final dish we had was the Lomo Saltado, a traditional Peruvian dish. While delicious, it was not as unique as the other two. Hospitality Factor: They took great care to be careful during my pick up because of COVID. They wore masks, observed social distancing and were considerate. We found this restaurant on Trip Advisor when we were in Plano visiting a relative. Boy were we pleased with the experience! The owner (Elicio) was the perfect host and helped us make some menu selections from a list of traditional Peruvian main courses. My wife is Peruvian I have been to Peru many times. Try to find Peruvian food when I travel. Location is behind so easy to pass by because can’t see from Plano Parkway. Mayacuya juice just like in Peru. We ordered empanada tamale. Ceviche. Lomo...saltado. All excellent. Wife liked so much. She ate leftover lomo saltado for breakfast next day. We willl be backMore

We wanted to experience a South American dinner. The reviews for this place were good so gave it a try. First it is in a place of North Dallas where change is the way. Maybe in 5 years that will come. As a result the...location seems to be deserted. Then, maybe because of the above when you get into the restaurant you had max 20% is busy. The food: expensive with some Latin flavors. The wine: the most expensive cheap wine I've ever seen. One option under $100 bottle. Maybe good wine in the wrong ambiance. The owner, chef, and everything, seems to still be in California (where he just came from) and charge San Fran touristic prices. Over all we gave it a try but we'll never go back there.More

During a family road trip in Texas and New Mexico, we stopped by for some comfort Peruvian cuisine. The decor is modern yet cozy with warm earthy colors. My family loved the music as they were playing songs from my childhood! The menu boasted all...the comfort foods I was used to growing up and I couldn't make up my mind what to choose. Luckily between my entire family, we chose almost one of everything we wanted. After making our selections, we noticed a weekly menu board and changed some selections. Soon enough, the appetizers and entrees starting arriving and they did not disappoint! Each dish was a delight to see as they were visually appealing and smelled delicious! I was pleased to see that everything was not too salty or overseasoned and tasted like the dishes I grew up eating, just fresh and flavorful. Portions were adequate as we could not finish everything yet we managed to squeeze in a few bites of the dessert cookies, alfajores! Some of my favorites like the lomo saltado (tender beef strips with veggies and fries), tacu tacu (mashed beans and rice), chicharron (fried pork belly) and papa a la huancaina (boiled potatoes with a homemade creamy cheese sauce). The owners were super friendly and nice as they were acquainted with their customers and stopped by to chat and check on their meals. Make sure you are not in a rush as service can be slow as food is prepared fresh. Very authentic and flavorful. Clean and friendly service, excellent atmosphere. Great place to relax and enjoy time with your family or friends.

We came here because of a coupon, but we will return often because this restaurant really has some great food. It’s entrees are beef, fish, pork, etc. cooked in a way you may not have seen before, and the sauces they have are great. For...example, on the recommendation of the manager, we had an appetizer/side dish of sliced potatoes covered with an exquisite yellow sauce that was lightly spicy and a perfect taste match to make the appetizer fantastic. My wife had a park chop cooked with vegetables & it was very, very tasty. I had a stir fry with sirloin strips in it, and it was nothing short of fantastic. They had a very nice array of appetizers, main courses, and desserts. We will be coming back to try some of the seafood dishes, which were very much like what you see on an American upscale restaurant menu.More

Dinner here with the Dallas IDA. Had the Lomo Saltado entree. OMG. Never really had Peruvian food before but this was incredible. The owner chef Eliseo Figueroa was our host for the evening and he is a genius. The food matched with his wine selections...was perfect. A must try in Plano or Dallas.More

Excellent food! Quiet enough to enjoy good conversation without yelling. Live music started as we were leaving. A few people were dancing. Very relaxed, friendly and comfortable . I had the seafood stew and it was wonderful. Tried empanada for appetizer and little cookies for...dessert. Both were very flavorful. I would return to try other menu options.More

This place is amazing. Authentic peruvian cuisine, managed by the owner. The food is the best I have had, and it rivals the best places in Lima where I have eaten.

Everything was amazing start to finish. Great ambiance, even had live music. Can’t wait to come back again!!

The food is good and the live music they have on Saturdays is excellent. However the owner needs to hire more waiters. The one they have is very ineficient especially when they have big parties to serve.
