The food here was simply delish. We were a party of 3. We had the blackened redfish (2) and the shrimp and grits. I personally had the shrimp and grits and they were perfect. It was served with toasted bread on the side, plenty of...bacon, and the sauce over it was yummy. Let’s just say we will definitely be back to try more dishes on the menu. We chose this location for a family dinner because it was on the river. Unfortunately any party larger than 4 cannot be seated with a river view. They won't push tables together, so just want to make sure that is clear as it wasn't shared...with us until we arrived (reservations are not accepted). We had a party of 7 adults and 1 toddler (high chair), so were seated in the back of the restaurant far from river view. They will also not seat incomplete parties so make sure everyone arrives around the same time if driving in from multiple locations. We arrived early to get our name on the list and were disappointed to see VERY limited seating in the bar. There was only one high top table that seats about 10 and it was already mostly occupied. So we walked up to the bar to order drinks and stood in the entryway waiting for the rest of our party to arrive. The initial hostess told us they would take a 6 top and a 4 top and push them together for us. Instead they squeezed us onto a 6 top so it was tight. There is a variety of food and everyone found something they wanted. Lots of comfort food and down home cooking. Everyone got something different and all the food was very tasty and came out hot. The food was the best part of our experience. Our waitress wouldn't check with all guests when she came to the table. It took her 3 trips to our table before I could get her attention to order a glass of wine. I would come again for the food and to try to sit with a party of 4 or less to see the river. We arrived at 5:15 and didn't have to wait too long for our table. We were just upset that we were lead to believe we would have a larger table. I think going in smaller groups is a better option for this establishment.More

I ordered the Balsamic Ribeye steak today for the first time (I eat here regularly). The Ribeye Steak was the toughest meat I’ve ever had, I almost couldn’t cut it with the steak knife provided, about a third of the steak was gristle. The steak...did have a good flavor. We were seated next to the window overlooking the river. We only had to wait 10 minutes; likely due to getting there early. I had the balsamic ribeye steak. It was the best steak I have ever tasted.

First, this restaurant is very popular so expect a wait of 30 minutes or more during prime dining hours. Unlike the Gristmill, this restaurant does have air conditioning which is a must have in the Texas Heat. As appetizers we tried the shrimp wontons and...chips & queso. The wontons were either overcooked or reheated from earlier in the day. The shrimp was rubbery and lacked flavor. The queso was your standard velveeta cheese dip with pico added. Chips were stale and along the lines of a cheap store brand. A highlight was the chicken Guadalupe. However the Hawaiian ribs were a horrible concoction of oven-baked ribs with a bland tomatoey sauce. The sides that come with the dish did not redeem it. Would not suggest this dish whatsoever. Service was quick and efficient. Did not have to ask for refills. The venue is an old world barn and very unique place to visit. However food seems to be hit or miss.More
