Stopped in just to try some German beer. Our host at the bar, Walter, was knowledgeable, friendly and very helpful. Looking forward to my next visit.

Three of us stopped in for supper on a Saturday afternoon before heading back to San Antonio. I had the Rueben, one had the schnitzel, and another had the smoked wurst. The waitress was extremely helpful to those who were not from a German background and gently guided them to selections similar to entrees they would know. Having grown up... More

It has been awhile since we've been in New Braunfels and our first since Friesenhaus moved to it new location. I am very happy to report the food is still great and the beer better. I had bratwurst with sauerkraut and gurkensalat (cucumber salad), my wife had a jagerschnitzel with the tomato salad and German fried potatoes--all excellent. Although I... More

So a friend of mine came into town and wanted to have German food. The reviews on here were mixed but we decided to give it a try. It's a little place that I never even noticed before. The food was awesome! The wait staff was a little less than enthusiastic but I don't really need someone to swoon over... More

Highlight first: the gentleman playing the accordion was friendly and very entertaining. This was the one redeeming quality of our visit. Lowlights: The restaurant is very warm - try to get a table under a ceiling fan because it is a little sweltering. Some of the menu items aren't actually available . I asked to get a Leberwurst sandwich and... More

We live around here and we often get tired of eating the same thing over and over. We tried this one Sunday lunch. Not too busy. Had the liver soup, lox sandwich and other things... So good. So different from the other restaurants offering same things. Will go again another time.

Probably the best German beer selection in this area. Everything is German influenced but you don't have to wear leiderhosen to get in. Authentic!

You have to eat German food while in New Braunfels. The German food here was very good with large portions. They also had a gentleman playing the accordion while we dined. My only complaint is that the restaurant's temperature was too hot. They needed to drop it another 2 or 3 degrees.

of the 6 meals ordered, 4 were not right. at the beginning of the meal, we asked for 2 separate checks (the restaurant was not busy), the final check was not separated. the bar request was for a glass of red wine which we were assured was only opened yesterday. the wine was sour and when a complaint was made,...
