Food wasn't anything special, but the view of the area made up for it. Outdoor music was a nice addition to our trip and food and drinks were casual and fairly priced.

This historic venue has a breathtaking outlook, friendly staff, and good food at a reasonable price point. We were seated inside by the massive windows overlooking the river and it was a wonderful dining experience. I had a frozen margarita and poblano pesto pasta salad...More

We ordered lunch and were served quickly with a nice location by the river. The food was ok, sausage appetizer was excellent. Everything was a bit spicy and they didn't have very many kids options that were not fried.

There is a lot of shade trees, tables with umbrellas, and if you want to sit inside, there are ceiling fans. To cool off enjoy a margarita, beer, or tall glass of iced tea.

I saw grilled food items and veggies as well, I'm sure if you let the server know they can try to accommodate.

Description
Situated on a bluff overlooking the Guadalupe River, this spectacular
restaurant nestled under the shade of towering oak trees has been the perfect getaway for a unique casual dining experience for thirty years.

Located in the historic district of Gruene just beneath the famous
Gruene water tower, we opened in 1977, serving steaks and
hamburgers from a tiny kitchen in the corner of the building.
Our menu still features thick steaks and large hamburgers, but the
restaurant also serves up popular South Texas fare like chicken fried
steak, fried catfish, grilled chicken, enormous sandwiches, fresh fish
and special dishes like tomatillo chicken and bronzed catfish. Fudge
pie, the enormous strawberry shortcake and our signature Jack
Daniel's Pecan Pie are famous desserts. A full bar with a good wine
list and fresh squeezed lime margaritas are also big hits.
