I ordered the fried shrimp and my husband ordered fish tacos, we had fried pickles as a app! Everything was good, lots of food, homemade ranch dressing! Our server was great and hard working, she had to take care of the whole back room by herself. We will return!

History buffs will want to research the rich history on the various uses of the building. I'll only share my eating experience. Five in our party. The parking was difficult on Friday night but short wait for a table. No reservations taken and though they say your entire party has to be there to get seated, it depends. Food portions... More

We heard about this place from the locals and had to give it a shot. We started with the biggest freaking plate of delicious onion rings I've ever seen. They are known for their fried catfish and it did not disappoint. The meals were huge and we took leftovers to our camper and had it for lunch again the next... More

Used to visit my mother-in-law in Sequin and took her often to Clear Springs. Had good memories of those visits. When my wife and I were in New Braunfels yesterday, we were looking forward to going back (it had been at least 10 years since our last visit). It was pretty crowded, but we were seated quickly and in a... More

This is a great Hill Country restaurant. They have an amazing menu that has something for everybody. A couple of things they are known for onion rings and cat fish but their menu is quite large. Decor is very Hill Country and service was great. We're looking forward to our next visit.

We visited Clear Springs Café in New Braunfels the other night, the first time since we left San Antonio 30 years ago. (We're from Clear Spring, MD and recently moved to Schertz, TX.) After reading the reviews we decided on the combination plate (fried catfish and fried oysters (for me) and fried catfish (for my wife.) We also sampled the... More

This place is an institution in New Braunfels. So, .....it's not health food. Although there is grilled stuff in the menu, I can never get past the Fishermans Platter. 1/2 fried catfish, 1/2 fried shrimp. Add a side of the most incredibly crispy thin cut onion rings and you have my favorite guilty pleasure food in the whole county.

Thank Susanna H

This was the very first Clear Springs location. It's actually located in Clear Springs, Texas between Seguin and New Braunfels. The building dates back to 1869 when it was mainly used as a grocery store for the locals. If you are ever in the area, it's worth the trip to check out the history that's behind this popular location. You better come early, standing room only is a common sight here.
