Loved the atmosphere and food! The service and entertainment was excellent as well. Purple cabbage and spaitzel (prob not spelled correctly!) were wonderful!

We called and asked about a take-out order, and the man on the phone at mid-day advised that we call back when the restaurant opens for dinner at 5pm. We live in San Antonio, about 40 minutes from the restaurant, but had a family reason...(my birthday) to want a German dinner. Few places offer traditionalGerman fare in the San Antonio area, although the German heritage in this part of Texas is a strong part of local history. We called in the order, and arranged the time for pick-up. At the time of collecting the food, the staff were completely courteous and attentive. We brought it home and began a careful re-heating at the right time before eating. The food had been delivered about two hours before we were able to enjoy it at the table, but the quality was so good that we regretted that we couldn't dine in to enjoy it at its best. Veal Cordon Bleu and Rouladen were delicious, even re-heated! Potato dumplings and red cabbage, pea soup, marble loaf bread slices, and excellent sauce were just lovely. This restaurant knows the traditional recipes, and even though we had the food as "take-out" we could not have been more satisfied (other than sitting down to enjoy it straight from the kitchen). Dessert was also delicious. Black Forest Cake was a three-layer delight, and the Apple Strudel earned as "best ever" from my spouse who has enjoyed strudel from San Antonio to Vienna and back. We look forward to a visit in person. Any restaurant producing beautiful food that can be warmed and served two hours after delivery deserves an A+. Alpine Haus is such a place.More

With the whole COVID 19 epidemic going on, we just needed to get out and decided to take a drive to New Braunfels. We went on Tripadvisor to find a German restaurant that offered inside dining - what a gem we found at Alpine Haus...restaurant. The house was recorded as a Texas Historic Landmark and is nicely decorated, you feel like you've stepped back in time. The food was amazing - my husband had the schwenebratin with potato dumplings, spatzle and mushroom soup. I had the pork jager schnitzel with red cabbage, fried potatoes and mushroom soup. My go to for german food is always the jager schnitzel and I have to say this was the best jager schnitzel I have ever had. The pork was so moist, the breading was perfectly seasoned with just the right amount of breading, and the mushroom gravy really took it to another level. Not only was the food delicious but the service was right on. We both highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be back, even though it's almost an hour's drive from Austin.More

Always love this place. Been to Germany several times and this takes me back. Go on romantic date or family get together. Never disappointed. Desserts are great to share.

I saw this restaurant on Texas Eats and decided I make the 40 plus minute drive from Leon Springs for a carry out meal, since I saw on the web site that they had carry out. I first tried to call several times, the phone...was busy and after 5 or 6 calls with no answer I drove to New Braunfels. Once we got there, after trying to make an order I was told sorry no carry out meals. During my drive home I said to myself was happens when wants to carry their unfinished meals home..More

Amazing Authentic German cuisine. We especially enjoyed the wonderful live music from the accordion player, that truly lifted our spirits. Me, my husband and son traveled from Fort Worth and we are so glad we came here for dinner. They do not have a kids...menu, I would say that's the only downside but, we made it work. I highly recommend, we went to one other German restaurant in town and we think Alpine Haus tops that!!!More

Authentic German dishes that were delicious! The staff was attentive and the inside of the restaurant was decorated as if being transported to a rural town in Bavaria. The finishing touch was the festive German folk music! The sausage sampler was delicious with different flavors....The Schweinebraten was well prepared with gravy and dumplings. Great dining experience!More

We dined here this week and the German food was very good and the staff was helpful and friendly. However, the BIG negative was NO protective measures in place i.e. staff wearing masks, disposable paper menus, spacing tables six feet apart and reducing customer numbers...in the small dining rooms. We were nervous as the restaurant was small and full when we arrived. Reluctantly we stayed but given the current rise in virus cases in Texas we won’t do it again. I feel it’s irresponsible to completely ignore the risks and not protect their staff and customers!More

The gravy was gluten free which was an oasis for my Gluten Free people! This was the best German food we’ve ever tasted and I’ve traveled through Germany. The sauerkraut and red cabbage were cooked perfectly. The apple strudel was icing on the cake. A...must try when in New Braunfels!More

Yes, I believe it is possible with reservations. The restaurant is in an old house and the rooms are not large, but there are three rooms and two of them for sure should accommodate a group your size!

I had trouble parking my Small car, if that answers your question. It’s in an old part of town, settled before the city council began setting rules on parking lot sizes.
