Wife was hungry for German food and we used to go yearly for 5 weeks stays each time to Germany!
Picked this place and really enjoyed the service and selection of items!
The rye bread was really great! Then I had garlic soup that was...good. The Wife wanted to try the sausage sampler. They had the spicy mustard I like. The only problem I had is, I've never had jalapeño sausage in Germany!! Not my thing.
Then I had the Rinder Goulash that was really great, the Wife had Huhnerbrust Geschnetzeltes. Chicken breast with sautéed spinach with mushrooms that was good as well!
I really like the place. I wish Yelp allowed 3 1/2 stars. Would I go back, you bet!More
Alpine Haus is one of the best German restaurants this side of Bavaria! Delicious German entrees, soups, salads, and desserts to choose from. All locally sourced and Chef inspired. Portions are large, so be sure to come with an appetite. Family owned and operated for...many years. Lovely German decor and ambiance in a restored Victorian house. Located just a block from the downtown Plaza and across the street from historic First Protestant Church. Beer and wine selections available. Reservations are advised for both lunch and dinner. Highly recommended!!!More
This is such a cute house! It feels like being in Europe. The food---very good. Big portions so totally split-able if you're inclined. Good rye bread to start. Wine selections are good and the waiter helped us pick a bottle. We had pork schnitzel, red...cabbage, spretzl, pork loin, fried potatoes. Good starter salad with dill sauced cucumber---so very German. The ONLY ding: it was Friday night, there were a total of three tables around 830pm. One young female server walked around with a sneer on her face glaring at diners, as if willing them to hurry up so she could go home. Hey, it's a restaurant and you're employed here, and you never know if ten more people might walk through the door. At least act like you're happy about working. The other two servers---our guy in a bow tie and another lady, were doing a great job. we will definitely come back for our bow-tie guy and amazing food.More
Ordered the schnitzel and it was fantastic. Awesome German food and beer along with live accordion music playing German tools. My wife said she felt like she was at a German Theme park! I am hungry again now just thinking about it and writing this...reviewMore
My wife and I ate lunch here today. I had the Midweek lunch special. It was a roll of fresh steamed asparagus wrapped in Black Forest ham and cheese. It was very good. It came with one side, a cup of German potato soup. This...was delicious. We were served a basket of 6 slices of superbly good fresh rye marble bread with butter that I believe was among the very best bread I have ever eaten. I asked our waitress if they baked the bread in-house. She said no; they purchase it from an Italian bakery in Nebraska. I bought a loaf of this bread to take home. My wife are a cup of the potato soup and likewise enjoyed the rye bread. She had a dessert called Alpine Delight which looked decadently delicious and which she said was very good. The restaurant is housed in a quaint house which dates back to the mid 1800’s. I will look forward to eating here again and I would certainly recommend it to anyone who enjoys good German food!More
We had a great experience with our two littles under 4. We checked the most recent reviews and found that people were having a great experience so we drove over from Houston one afternoon and back. We tried the Jager schnitzel, marinated beef, and sausage...platter (bratwurst was our fav). The salad was yummy and so was the garlic soup. We also tried the cabbage, sour kraut, potato dumplings (think big mashed potato ball doused in gravy), and apple strudel. We went early and called in a table about 2 hours prior. It was full the whole time we were there and mostly reservations with just a few walk-ins. Also I don't prefer rye bread however there's was the best rye I've ever had and very glad I tried it - very soft and fresh versus dry. To top the evening off, a talented young man moved from room to room playing his accordion around 6pm as we were leaving. Definitely a must try.More
We found this little Gem on Trip Advisor and so glad we did. My family of 6 got seated right away by a friendly hostess. It was good team work by 4 people getting our food. We ordered an assortment of dinners and all were...plated fancy and delicious. The portions were large as you can see by the pictures I posted. The service really was great. Reasonable prices for the quality and quantity of food we got.More
