We had reserved a table and were promptly seated when we arrived. We had fried mozzarella for the appetizer, my husband had the spaghetti & meatballs, and the chef made chicken parmigiana for me instead of veal. It was all excellently prepared and tasted delicious!...The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was because our waitress was very distracted to the point she even apologized to us for being distracted. Other than that, she served us well.More

Ok, let’s start with the fact that we’re Sicilian Americans. Suffice it to say we “need” spice. Our meals took a little longer than they should have to get out of the kitchen and when they did the plates and food were warm but definitely...not hot. This might suggest insufficient wait staff? Two of our group ordered the gluten free pasta Frutti di Mare. We received very small portions of pasta when compared to my daughter’s regular pasta-version of the same dish. Most disappointing was the COMPLETE LACK OF SPICE. The sauce forced the entire table to request salt, chopped basil, and peperoncini. Quite simply, the lack of spice sent us away disappointed.More

Food is outstanding & probably catering best to folks who don't mind paying for great tasting food! Located in the heart of New Braunfels, this place offers outdoor seating, a quiet back room or dining in the main front room. Reservations are recommended to assure...a short wait. Randy is one waiter with expertise and experience in making your dining evening pleasant. We are locals and this is place is on rotation of favorites to dine!More

The food quality was good, but very over priced for the portions served. Service was good. Ambiance was not bad. Gluten free pizza was extremely thin. Probably will not go back.

Our family had a great experience at 188 South. We all agreed that the pizza, both regular and GF, were the best in town. The GF pasta was also excellent. The steaks were perfectly prepared and the salads were delicious. Service was also quite good....We will be back!More

BEST RESTAURANT in town and San Antonio area! After traveling over 60 countries and being exposed to different cuisine, this little gem would not disappoint you! TRUST ME! I have been there several times and let me tell you that the customer service, FOOD, drinks,...and atmosphere are amazing. It doesn’t matter how many times you go to the restaurant, you will never get tired of their dishes, since the menu changes! In my opinion the price for the food is great since you pay for quality! Big shout out to Chadd, Diego, Tyler, Jennifer, and of course the entire staff! Thank you so much for your service and such amazing customer service and professionalism!More

Delicious Italian food in NB! We saw the restaurant while at the weekend Farmer's Market and decided to give it a try. We were able to get a table outside, and lived the atmosphere. Our server (Ryan) was very knowledgeable of the menu and gave...great recommendations. The food and wine were fantastic, and I have to say the focaccia bread they serve is the best bread I've ever had! It's the consistency of angel food cake but in bread form. WOW. We also met the GM (Chad) who stopped by all of the tables to check in on everyone. Very friendly guy who cares about his staff and is very passionate about the restaurant. In addition to all of this, we really enjoyed the music! Someone has a great playlist and keeps it casual, but with a huge variety from instrumental, classic rock, Indie, etc. Overall above expectations. We will definitely be back!More

Great Italian meal! I had the chefs daily fish special which was salmon with sautéed veges including tomatoes, Swiss chard, rhubarb and others. It also had piñon nuts for a bit of crunch. Absolutely delicious! I didn’t really pay attention to what the others had...but I will tell you their plates were empty!More

Went for the first time, made reservations they seated us in the back right next to the kitchen. There was no one else back there. The menu only had veal for the meat entree. There was one chicken. The drinks were very good and service....I did not like to be seated next to the kitchen, we kept hearing banging noises. Not sure if we will be back.More

Recent Italian revision of 188 South is the upscale, casual-elegant, restaurant this town has needed for the past decade. Wonderful atmosphere for a date night or business dinner. Best wine selection and food pairings offered in NBTX! The staff are attentive; chef and GM are...passionate and creative offering new features and events regularly. Wife and I are excited to share their journey.More
