We brought my mother here for brunch to celebrate her birthday. This was our first time here and we were pleasantly surprised. The service, food, price and ambiance were wonderful. We plan in coming back again soon.

A favorite place for lunch. Never too busy, and fairly quick service. Menu and pricing a little upscale but consistently good. I recommend their soups and salads- always fresh. Love the petite salmon filet but whatever you order, you MUST try the flash fried spinach! This is truly a unique delicacy and they always get it perfect!

We stayed in the same plaza as the restaurant so this was a convenient place to eat our first meal in Texas upon arriving. Food was good we had dinner salads and the hot spinach dip...all very tasty. We ate here again another day and enjoyed that meal as well. The only negative is that the restaurant itself does not... More

We were celebrating our 45th anniversary and wanted to try someplace new. We had heard some good things about this place, but did not expect what we found. It was one of the best dining experiences of my 60+ years. They advertise "casual fine dining". It is a rather casual atmosphere but also a fine quality eating place. It does... More

We ate here because the place we originally went to was closed. A fortunate turn of events. The place is very handsome, lively and comfortable. The food was well done and a bit innovative. The flash fried spinach was noteworthy. Well worth a visit.

The service was adequate but too many mistakes were made. We had the duck breast and it was good but not anything to write home about. We had wanted the steak but $38 for an 8 ounce filet was just too much. You can get a steak at Vic and Anthony's or Morton's or Del Frisco's for that price and... More

Smaller, more intimate setting, great wine list and interesting menu. Sunday brunch is a good value and lunch could include visits to nearby boutiques. A cute area.

It was raining and we didn't feel like walking in the rain to stand in line with the crowds at the restaurants in the center of Gruene. Just as we were about to give up and drive to another town to eat, we spotted The Gruene Door just down the street in the cutest little shopping village. We decided to... More

Just what we needed after braving the parking lots of the historic site up the road...no chance of lunch there! So glad we spotted the sign and turned in to try the Gruene Door. This was a top five meal of our three week trip through Texas....and we ate in many highly rated places. The atmosphere is wonderful...so peaceful with... More

The Gruene Door is a quaint local joint near New Braunfels, Texas and located in a small shopping area called The Gruene Lake Village. The area its self is quiet and cute with a few shops and bars to entertain. The restaurant has a great atmosphere and is decorated with a comfortable mix of browns and deep reds. I really... More
