Food and ambience

Nested in the middle of the Piney Woods of East Texas, this Clear Springs location occupies what once was the first refrigerated warehouse West of the Mississippi River. Located next to a busy rail yard, this warehouse was ideal for getting food and supplies to people all over Texas and the United States. Stop in and see history on the walls and enjoy the Best Fried Catfish in Texas as voted by Texas Highways Magazine.

We like to eat here for the shrimp and catfish but there’s plenty more on the menu. Great service, nice selection and the food is good. And now, Socially distanced and clean. We had the peach cobbler with the crumbles and ice cream a nice...finish to our meal!More

Covid-19 safe; staff gently remind you to follow precautions & keep you 6' apart. Start with the world famous onion rings which are that best I've ever had. I greatly enjoyed firecracker salmon which had a jalapeno sauce, slightly sweet and delicious! We Show in...joy and shrimp cocktail and fish tacos which were amazing. Our waiter, Devin was very attentive and helped with our selections. The restaurant is located in downtown in a classic buildings near the train depot, museum by itself.More

Went for early dinner, wait staff was attentive, food was wonderful. Plenty of guests, but not overly crowded -- all spaced about right for the Covid thing. French fried onion rings are marvelous, but the Texas-sized order is too much for three. The Cajun Gumbo...is a full bowl of what was expected -- a tad spicy and not enough sausage. The Fried Shrimp was a very full plate of large shrimp & fries along with two side orders. The Skinny Tilapia dinner with two large fillets was a full meal and well prepared. Wonderful place - good food.More

Good food and service. Love the historic building and the sound and stumble as trains pass. My kids loved the aquarium.

Nacogdoches has impressed me in several ways. One of the highlights is this restaurant, without a doubt. Their service was great and the food quality was flawless.

Yes by far Top of the Town. As a retired Chef this pandemic has forever changed our restaurant industry and no one knows where it is going. This place was well equipped with tables removed and staff well trained. Appetizers were gumbo and onion rings...both over 5 Star. Dinner was Shrimp and Catfish both fried with excellent cocktail sauce and tarter sauce. Yes world famous onion rings were world famous. Brought dessert back to motel for later. So 5 Star is easy to recommend. Retired Chef Gene Roblyer Denton TexasMore

We loved this restaurant. Great food, service, and the entire staff was very friendly and accommodating. We’re making this a yearly stop. The local beer was wonderful. We took a dessert home for later as well.

I could only give 4 stars because, while pre-ordering our entee 4 days ago,& the bus tour scheduled to stop,a year ago in the planning, somehow they were unprepared! This is a very busy place it appears,so I blame mgt for the delays & issues....Having said that, the food was delicious & generous portions served. The pork chop & the grilled chicken dinner, were flavorful, and reasonably priced. I recommend the onion rings! Very good!More
