Popped this afternoon on a rainy, dull day. Had such a wonderful friendly greeting by a lovely lady. She spoke great English (which was much appreciated!) and was fantastic with our girls (8 & 7) and took the time to help them learn some French too. Thank you for cheering up our day!!!

We were traveling in the Perigord for a family event and we stopped at Le Bugue for dinner. Following the recommendations, we saw on Tripadvisor we went to Chai Monique and we were not disappointed. We ordered for some 'charcuteries' and for 2 tartines which were really fresh & delicious. This was probably too much. The proposed wine, from the... More

Went for brunch as we were meeting friends there. Had a coffee with an open-face sandwich of goat cheese and cured ham. Owner attentive to clients' dietary limitations. A very popular place where people come to meet friends so the decibel level may be a bit high. Must try the place for another occasion.

The little wine bar is owned and run by Monique, one of the friendliest servers you could find. She speaks English if needed. Her choices of wine are excellent and she gives you several to try before you decide on your favorite. Her knowledge is extensive and her explanations charming. She also serves light meals which are excellent. We have... More

Chai Monique I doubt the Chai Monique needs another rave review, but hear is one. My wife and I and friends have eaten there three times in the first two weeks in Le Bugue. The food is delicious. Our first meal included a chicken breast stuffed with shredded leeks. Great! But the best part is Monique, personable without being intrusive.... More

This is a busy place because it is renowned for it's charm and character. It's not cheap by local standards but the quality is good.

Delicious toasty snacks called tartines. We had the onion confit tartine and the smoked salmon tartine and they were both tasty. The service was also excellent.

The menu is small, the restaurant tiny (and probably the smallest WC ever!), the terrace of a few tables on the pavement is also very compact. The welcome was one of the warmest ever. We ordered rose wine and were given samples of two to make our final choice. Mum and I shared the homemade foie gras which was amazing... More

We just popped in here for a quick drink before going on for dinner else where and the service and welcome were fantastic and polite. We were given a small cured meats mezze board with our drinks too. Wonderful little place - will visit again for dinner.

A good traditional address in Le Bugue. Good tartines and good wine, in the main street, with a little terrasse.
