I plugged endlessly through numerous places of interests and restaurants online in readiness of our trip to Bali, this place stood out Wanaku IndoAsian Restaurant in Tuban, South of Kuta. Their website featured photos and useful information. I didn’t think to check the menu beforehand...and didn’t regret going there even just for drinks, they have an exhaustive beverages menu with a twist of unique ingredients, making handcrafted concoctions to delight any palate. The outside entrance is welcoming showcasing a quirky feature of a carriage a nice touch for a quick photo. A set of steps leads you to the main dining area where your greeted by staff in true Indonesian style hospitable and friendly, showing us to our ‘woven cocoon’ seating. Just what we needed after hours of walking around shopping! The restaurant is typical Indonesian style uniquely built in bamboo throughout. The theme runs beautifully in beige airy tones in keeping with the bamboo feature and cleverly designed interiors. It was perfectly laid out, giving an ‘OM’ spiritual Zen like feel of Hippiness! Peace and calmness roamed through, but I guess it was due to our early afternoon arrival. Attentive staff brought menus for our perusal, as we flipped through the stark realisation of expecting vegetarian food diminished. Staff confirmed “Sorry no vegetarian only meat”. The hot afternoon sun and tiredness had drained our energies and we settled for the drinks, looking through we were amazed at the different variations they offered and my state of mind went into a meltdown lol! (a rumbling stomach quickly neglected). My friend settled for “Tape Nade” 58 (Fermented Cassava (Tape), fresh passionfruit, passion puree, lemon & sparkling coconut water. (An interesting concept ), I opted for the Taro & Caramel Blended Gelato delicious and certainly cooled down the meltdown I had earlier lol! We sipped and chatted enjoying the refreshing drinks and admiring the ambience and serenity of the afternoon. Palates satisfied we ventured outside admiring the beautiful landscape garden with tropical flora and fauna, a mini waterfall as a backdrop adding sophistication and style to any photo. We took endless pictures (not something I normally do in a restaurant, but this place was an exception). The creativeness didn’t just end there, a stone table and stools arranged with water running underneath wrapped around more tropical plants. A bar built on yet more bamboo with a staircase transpired a dining area and a bar downstairs took centre stage. Unfortunately, we were oblivious to the evening entertainment had we known, maybe we would have returned on another day. We enjoyed out stop here. Nice hospitality, service a little sparse and laid back probably due to the slump in customer numbers in the afternoon, only gripe was the lack of (or rather non-existent) vegetarian food. Could have notched the rating to 4, if these options were available. We would recommend this place if you want a different spin on an dining experience (if your a meat eater) in beautiful surroundings, sipping amazing drinks and fun photo opportunities if nothing else. Thank you. Indu & Versha.More

Actually this my 4th times visit here as always every vacation i visited this place but yesterday i came around 9 pm i think i'm the last guest came, the service was dissapointed also with the food we ordered gulai ikan , nasi bakar ,...lawar cumi but the waiter don't have good comunication with waiter or waiter don't know the menu very well not prefesional like usually when we visit there always the waiter give recomendation. He asked again about the fish which one we wanna have gurami or snapper which quit big 600/700 gr.thrn we choose gurame and then the food came , the plating was nice but when we try one by one , there is bit problem with ikan teri was to salty , second in gulai ikan is tasteless and than third one is waiter doesn't double check and pay attention about what's going on with the food. Waiter is disappear somewhere. And then they are to busy to closing but no one pay attention about us. Till we wanna pay we wait arround 10 minutes for bill. We are both work in hospitality we try to understand but this unacceptable. Suggestion : train the waiter well about pay attention with the guest and also threat them same not because local or not, but they are come for get service and also nice threat and they pay with reasonable price.More

We found this restaurant through a friend and are glad we went. The setting has many different levels and types, we chose a bamboo pod. Its great for sharing food as you sit around a big round table with a lazy Susan in the middle....The food is a traditional Indonesian menu and very good. We were also given free transfer back to our hotel in Legian. Great night and value for money.More

The best thing ever here is the local drinks! I love their drinks! Their mixing skill and their great idea for the drinks. Second, is of course the place! Stunning view inside, they also provide a romantic table-seat section with a small waterfall behind. There...is also in pool dining for a bit of fun. Or you can choose gazebo if you are coming with a family.More

I really enjoyed the food, view and service at Wanaku. Even though one of our groups dishes was sold out and we weren't informed until the other food was being given out this was quickly resolved and complimentary desserts offered. Regardless of the small issue...I would recommend and say to make sure to eat at Wanaku when in Bali. The Nasi Campur comes highly recommended!More
