Most of the time we want to celebrate someone's birthday or any special ocassions we go to La Cueva. We love El Escorial and this restaurant is one of the best around the place. With a very original architectural structure and an excellent service, we couldn't be prouder or going there every time we get a chance. Highly recommended!!!

Also known as El Balcon de Piedra, this is a great place for a beer or wine and some free tapas - pinchos. It's also a wonderful place to meet locals. The hot cheese tapas were great.

The place is very nice, and pretty big. They have plenty of dining rooms, making it perfect for larger groups. But the food was not very good. I mean, the appetizers were ok, but the main courses was nothing special. The haddock was tasty but but not very well presented, and the pork loin nothing to write home about. The... More

A few steps away from the main square in San Lorenzo de El Escorial, and situated in a building constructed in 1768, according to our waiter, La Cueva presents a traditional-style menu in an historic setting of half-timbered walls and ceilings with lots of light coming through the gabled windows. We were there for lunch on a Satruday - the... More

After an early start, and no lunch, we were not looking forward to waiting until 21.00 to eat, but surprise surprise this restaurant was willing to serve us at 19.00 and the food was good and plentiful and the wine excellent valus

Good cuisine a bit expensive though. Nice location and interesting building. First courses are regular. Main courses are good.

Ok, so the waiters are a little slow, but we are great food in a gorgeous period building for a decent price. The "sopa castellana" is fantastic, and the house wine's good too.

Excellent food and service in a beautiful, historic building. La Cueva is nearly as old as the village of San Lorenzo itself, and is furnished with impressive period furniture. The food was amazing and the service impeccable. We will definitely go back!

The building (XVIII century) is impressive and transports the visitor to another time. Excellent tapas - there are not many options but very good. The house wine and the meet (chuleton de buey) fantastic !
