I noted the service first in the title because that was what really stood out from our visit to Las Viandas. The wait staff worked the dining room as a team and everyone was exceptional. Friendly, helpful and extremely hard-working. We started with the assortment of Grilled Vegetables (Verduras a la Plancha) and they were perfectly cooked and simply seasoned.... More

I ate here twice while visiting San Lorenzo and I loved the view and the children playing in the plaza. Beautifully situated. The food and drinks are much more targeted at foreigners so my preference for good honest Spanish food was not so well catered for. Vegetarian choices were limited but it was possible to eat well. Prices were "tourist"... More

Excellent variety of local food catering for different tastes, especially for young teenage children. Staff were very friendly and helpful; food was well presented and served quickly, even though all the tables were occupied by other customers. The restaurant appeared popular with locals; a good sign.

We started with the fried brie and then had the arroz de cigalitas for our main. The arroz was beautiful! We noticed there was a jornada de arroces on in the restaurant so we figured it was a good idea to try one and it was. We read some reviews which said their arroces were terrible but we beg to... Fab little place to stop for a wine and the tapas they served with it were fabulous. Would love to try the food more here another time.

We sat to eat after visiting San Lorenzo. Sorry to say but it was really bad. Paeya was probably hit in microwave, rice was party not cooked. Hamburgers for kids were with cold beacon. Pasta was cold too. We were charged for bread that was cold and dry like a stone. When we said all our complains to the only... More

We sat outside on terrace, it was a Sunday afternoon, it was busy I think full of mainly locals. It was a sunny March day, although a little cold. We didn't book but were able to get a table for two quickly. We both ordered from the 'recommended orders of the day' menu. Excellent food and wine. Lovely location with... More

I have been coming to this restaurant for quiet a few years now and it never disappoints. Great food and service at a reasonable price, Staff are knowledgeable about both the food and wine. My all time favourites the mollejas ( sweetbreads) cooked perfectly every time. The restaurant has a lovely ambience with a great bar for some very good... More

Here today, in the library of El Escorial to study medieval manuscripts tomorrow, though the whole place is closed for a state funeral. Scholars with long advanced dates very, very kindly excepted! Las Viandas is a fine discovery. I observed through the window the now proved excellent young kitchen masters at pre-dinner dinner and planning, and opted for them over... More

Prior to our visit to San Lorenzo de Le Escorial Monastery we stopped for lunch at Las Viandas. It was a beautiful warm day in September so we elected to have lunch outside under one of their giant umbrellas. Of course for starters we had traditional Spanish cured ham and olives followed by a nice salad. Then the main course.... More
