Secret garden of Flores!

We came to Los Amigos Hostel to book a Tikal Tour (at $Q110 was great value and all went smoothly) and were invited to have a look and chill in the main area of the hostel. We loved the space as there were hammocks and really comfy seating areas to relax amongst a tropical garden setting. There are also tiny chickens roaming about, which are super cute. It was just what we needed to get out of the heat of the day. We looked at the restaurant menu and they have a large selection of dishes across many cuisines and all reasonably priced. We couldn't go past the Oreo and icecream dessert and that was delicious!

Great food and vibe!

My friend and I spent two nights in Los Amigos hostel and had some meals in Los Amigos Restaurant. Both the restaurant and the hostel have and amazing boho vibe, with colorful decoration and lots of plants, which we loved. The price is fair, and the food tastes amazing (and always comes in big portions, so you might even share one plate)!!! For a vegan breakfast our favorite picks were the Cacao Smoothie Bowl and the Avo Toast, and for dinner our favorite was the Thai Curry. We also had the falafel with fries for lunch one day and it honestly was one of the bests we’ve ever had.

Tasty and affordable Flores hot spot

Super tasty Mayan Burger and fries! Morning coffee con leche is fantastic along with the cane sugar they have available at every table. Enjoyed the Mojito‘s in the evening time along with the many different morning vegetable and fruit juices. I would say this is a must visit in Flores!

Veggie Burger / Greek Salad

Unfortunately it was a bit disapointing, even tho I feel like I vould I ve appreciated other dishes. The salad in my greek salad tasted like plastic. They decided to offer a greek a salad but with such a poor cheese I don't think it's worth it. The sauce wasn't very tasty either. I tried the veggie burger and potatoes of my girlfriend that were okay. Not the kind of veggie burger I like where you can taste every ingredient but more the ones where it s like a mixture of veggies between two buns. I might go for desert after that but I want my free drink before 😁 Sooo don't expect anything extraordinary but if u order some dishes accessible locally I m sure it ll be fine. The quantities were very generous.

I am so sorry your Greek Salad wasnt served with rthe fetta cheese as it is mentioned on the menu, Our provider couldnt deliver this cheese for a while and our waiters forgot to mention this and you are 100% right, This is not the cheese a Greek Salad should come with. Good aesthetic, okay service.

I came here with friends for dinner and drinks. Our server recommended the Azteca soup so I gave it a try. It tasted like burnt tomatoes with no seasoning. I ate 2 bites total and it took me 15min to flag down a server again. By that time my friends were mostly finishing their meals. I asked for (in Spanish) the tofu tacos instead and the server looked confused and left. A few minutes later, another server came up and told me they don’t have tofu tacos (though it was on the menu). By this time my friends were finishing the last bites of their food (plus everything takes very long to arrive after ordering) We ordered desert (apple pie) and it came cold and hard. I left hungry and had to pay over 100q in the end. They refused to take off the awful soup. Not my favorite experience. That was my food budget for the day so I ended up going to get chips from a supermarket. That being said, the place WAS beautiful but very very loud so if you are sensitive to that, I would walk on.

Bad service at Los Amigos restaurant

The restaurant is well designed and has a nice vibe to it. The food is pricy, but not unusual to Flores as a touristic place. The food was nice, but the rest of our experience was pretty bad because the service was undoubtedly disappointing. It took a lot of time until the waitress first came to us, and also after she took our order, it took some more 45 minutes without us getting any food. When we asked about our food, we were promised that it will soon come, but it took some more time. When it finally came, some of the dishes were missing. When we asked about it, we were given mixed up answers that did not match our order, and instead of checking the menu and seeing the problem we were met with arguments. We needed to speak with the shift manager in order to receive the food we ordered (which took a lot of time, again). Of course that the food came without utensils, which we needed to remind the waiters that we need, which took another several minutes to later arrive. In addition, the whole place was loud and not really comfortable (part of the roof is open to the sky, which can be nice sometimes but is a problem in a tropical area which rains frequently). We didn't enjoy this experience, even though the food that finally arrived was nice, and we won't be glad to return to this place. Really hope that the service will improve and some manpower will be added, because this place has some really great potential.

Los Amigos restaurant is inside the hostal. There are fantastic vegan and vegetarian options as well as meat options. Beer is a bit expensive but it’s served cold with good service . The staff is friendly and helpful. You can get bag lunches (chickens or vegetarian) in case you have any tours or long days of exploring planned. We, a group of 5 people, got the veggie bagged lunch to take to Tikal Early Bird Tour and it was PERFECT! There are turtles and rabbits and fish and lots of beautiful plans

Great breakfast

I enjoyed my breakfast. Had the granola bowl and a Jamaica juice. The granola bowl had a good size and a lot of fresh fruit so it justified the price of 50 quetzals. I also got a coffee for free. I was very happy with the breakfast and can especially recommend taking it in the maracuya breakfast spot at the table at the very top ;)

Good food and beautiful chillin atmosphere

I stayed in the hostel for 2 nights and I couldn’t believe how comfy and beautiful this hostel was. The vibe was so chilling and relaxing, I was more in the hostel than outside! Haha the restaurant is really good, they have good options, I personally had the Los -Amigos breakfast and it was delicious, the orange juice was fresh and recently squeezed. The coffee was really good as well! Service was super friendly and attentive, they were pretty fast as well. Prices are quite average In my opinion, although you can also find cheaper options outside. In any case, I 100% recommend this place and the restaurant. You’ll have a great experience here! Thumbs up! They have cats, rabbits, turtles and birds all around so if you like to be in touch with animals, this is the place to be!

Good food!

I have stayed at the hostel for a few days, and couldn’t resist eating at Amigos Restaurant! The food was always good, but a little random. For instance, the typico one day would have cream cheese but no fruit, and the next day the opposite. And it was served with bread once, then bread rolls next. Also, the nachos were served without melted cheese one day - which was interesting but not necessarily bad. Regardless of the inconsistencies, all the food was spectacular. The price is a little steep but worth the proportions you get. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere is relaxed and colorful. Definitely worth eating at!!

THE place to be in Flores

Hostel Los Amigos, where should I start? You will be welcomed by the super friendly hostel staff to complete your booking. Then they will show you around the place and it’s absolutely wonderful! The place is not only super practical but also super cute! You can tell immediately they have a strong eye for details. The hostel is very colourful and they offer several activities and facilities. You have a pool table where you can play pool with other travellers, they have huge sitting area where you can have breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and they have a lounge area where you can totally chill out or get some work done. The WiFi is the fastest on the whole island and traveling as a digital nomad, this is just THE place to be in Flores. And damn. The kitchen, they offer both International and local dishes and it’s absolutely delicious. The guy behind the bar is extremely helpful and speaks really good English. If you are still wondering if you want to visit Los Amigos, as a world traveler who has been in dozens of counties and stayed in all kinds of hostels, this is it! I really recommend this place for any type of traveler. It doesn’t matter if you’re traveling solo, with friends or as a couple, this is the best spot in Flores for a really good price! Bienvenidos!

Excellent food, kind personnel

We stayed in the Los Amigos hostel and had breakfast at the Los Amigos every morning. The breakfast dishes are cheap and pretty large. You won't go hungry soon after having breakfast here. They also serve a quite decent amount of healthy dishes as well, which was a very nice change from all the much fatter food I had become accustomed too in my journeys through Latin America. As for dinner, the pizza's and pasta's are very tasty! Finally, most of the staff speaks both Spanish and English and is really friendly. Definitely recommend.

I don’t know why this restaurant has gotten such good reviews. The food is not very good because it seems like they’ve tried to offer a ton of options but have mastered none of them. The portion sizes are strange. They’re huge but not quite enough to feed 2 hungry people so you end up ordering 2 meals but not finishing either. So much food wasted. It’s also very expensive and has slow service like most restaurants in Flores. Don’t order the chicken wings because they’re awful. So are any of the plates with the beef shawarma (the beef was tough and tasted nothing like shawarma). The burgers are ok. I recommend Cool Beans cafe instead. Their portion sizes are correct, prices are great, and food is decent.

Hi Jason. Thanks for your review... For us there is no negative reviews... Only feedback that we use to improve our service so everyone leaves our restaurant happy! I would say about 99% of the people are super happy about our huge portions and almost everyone finishes their plates completely... We choose to adapt the portions to young backpacker crowd that have been hiking in Tikal all day... What else do you want at the end ot a day as a huge tasty plate? You kinda contradict yourself. First you say that we almost give enough food that 2 people can eat from one plate but then that is now expensive. Most people trying our huge portion consider our price/quality/quantity the best deal in town. Our chicken wings are one of our most sold/popular plate... I wish you would have contacted us when you ordered them so we could have given you a solution. What was wrong with the chicken wings, we wonder. Sorry you didnt like our shawarma. Again this is one of our bestsellers. Our apologies that you left unsatisfied. I wish you would have talked to us, we would have happily found you a solution. Well... we thank you for taking the time to give us your opinion. Rest assure we will look into it and improve our service to the max! Ok food, if you have time to wait for it

Veggie Pizza was ok, was not long enough baked (not cruncy) and too little salt/taste in the dough. Delivery is very slow so if you have time limitations don't go here. We one time ordered bruchetta only and after 45 minutes waiting we canceled our starter as we had to leave. Burgers (chili) is very nice.

Picturesque Hostel with a fun vibe

Great Hostel with its own travel company so very helpful when want to organise a bus or trip to Tikal. We ate here every day and the food is great (a little expensive) however portions are pretty big and they have a communal kitchen which is great. AC in the room comes on at 9pm and is great.
