This is our second visit here and the food is still awesome. The restaurant has new owners and they are keeping the old traditions going. The menu isn't as big as before but the schnitzel is still great and this year they had ribs on the menu that my husband said were really good. The staff are really friendly and service was top notch.

I do love this place my family and I are from Wisconsin where we eat brats weekly. When we moved down here they are very hard to come by. I also love the German beer selection here. The entrance to this place is very hard to find even knowing where they are I usually miss the entrance. I can’t give them 5 stars cause of the price for one brat but I’m used to eating a package of brats myself.

I was happy to come across a German restaurant in the area and Schneider’s did not disappoint. The Jaegerschnitzel and spaetzle were very good and the red cabbage was the best I have ever had. Nice selection of German and domestic drafts. And a very nice courtyard for outdoor dining on days when it’s not too hot. I’d love to try their signature pork shank on my next visit!

As someone that has gone to Germany several times ( and lives with a true German) and eaten authentic German food the meal we had tonight was terrible. Both of us had one of the schnitzels (Jager and pepper) and it was barely warm, the fried potatoes were warm and flavorless. The red cabbage was not cooked the German way with bacon and apples, it was just steamed or boiled and it too was cold. The spetzel was cold and flavorless. The only thing that was close to being German was the pretzels.
This is not the place I want to spend $60.00 for a cold, bland meal. I would advise everyone to save your money and just go to McDonalds, you will probably get a better meal.

I have not eaten here for some time. In the past this was one of my favorite restaurants. I was very disappointed with the food. The Jager Schnitzel was very thin, over cooked and dry. The sauce was tasteless. Due to the pandemic the food was served on a paper covered with wax paper plate covered with wax paper which shredded on to the food.
I will not return here for a long time.

Service was extremely poor. Food was delicious. Was charged twice on my credit card. Two different charges. The waitress added her own extravagant tip on our
friend's bill without asking or showing him what she had done. Still waiting for one of the charges to be taken off of my credit card. About one week before this visit, my wife and I had gone there and been served by a fine young man who was a very good
server!

The Snitzel was tasty, but thin. The red cabbage was excellent. The spaetzel was deep fried! The pretzels, beer and wine were good, as was the service. Because of Covid, sauerbraten was a pre-order item and was not explaining on Google. German food in the US is becoming a lost art.

As a regular business traveler to the McAllen area, I've tried nearly every restaurant in town. When you tire of TEX-MEX and chains, try Schneider's. OIt is alittle out of the way. The menu is limited (especially post-covid) . The schnitzels are generally good - again sometimes inconsistent on temp and size. The beers are good and ample sized. The Dorners (the Turkish pita) is often on the menu and good. The outdoor 'biergarten" is ok-but not in the summer. Spaetzel and pretzels are good. I am a bit of a German food snob (been to Germany many times) and Schneider's does ok with it. All in all I find myself going back on most business visits.

When visiting McAllen, I must always wait until Wednesday for this establishment to open. It’s a test of my patience.
Awesome German food! The thought of their Jager Schnitzel always makes me drool. For side dishes, I’ve learned to prefer the spatzel over the dumplings. A personal preference. Pan fried potatoes on Friday’s are the best (see below).
If you’re a fan of German beer, you won’t be disappointed.
The service is always friendly and helpful. After having been away for a few months, they still remember my name.
There is outdoor live music. During the week, it’s not world class, but it’s enjoyable and the musician is friendly.
4 out of 5 because on Wednesday’s, it seems that the food is just a touch different. Friday nights have definitely been a 5 and I’ve only officially given 1 rating of 5. Perhaps the cooks are different? Regardless, the Wednesday experience always leaves me wanting to come back on Friday’s to see if I’ll get the 5 meal 🤤.
Atmosphere is homey and could possibly use a little updating, but I’m there for the food, not the furnishings. Eating outdoors there is very enjoyable.

We've been here twice now and the food is amazing! I lived in Germany for over a year and the food is just as I remembered. They have German beers on tap. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The service can be slow if they're busy as it's a scratch kitchen but the food is well worth the wait. Have a beer or two while you wait.

Having served in Europe multiple times we were craving good German fare. Schneider's Restaurant didn't disappoint. We ordered the Weinerschnitzel and an order of Goulash. Both were delicious. I must admit the liter of Hafbrau beer from the tap was incredible. The only thing missing was the German music (live country/western and classic rock does nothing to add to the ambiance) and warm soft pretzels. The beirgarten is beautiful and this would have been a 5-star rating had the ambiance been more European instead of sacrificing to satisfy the local RGV clientele.

This place is a little gem if you like German food. They serve the best schnitzel I have had in a long time. The salad was very good and the peach cobbler was as well. The service was fantastic.

The former owners taught the new owners all the recipes! Excellent food, we’ve been here twice so far. I love the Camembert cheese, I make it my meal. Also had the beertrucker steak. Very good.

Went on a Friday and there was live music. Must sit in their outside patio to really appreciate the atmosphere. Cold German beer and great German food.

Yummy and authentic. Worth the small drive out of McAllen for the delicious fare and the atmosphere was great.
