From the outside it looks like a good ole American BBQ joint, which initially attracted me to the place. Once inside you realize it's a bit different.... It's hard to explain but it's more of a fusion of BBQ with local flavors. For example I...ordered brisket tacos and beans and my order came out with pico de gallo and BBQ sauce. Everything was still pretty tasty, just not what I was craving for.More
First time my husband and I came here and overall the food is good, the place is a little out dated but selection of food was excellent. The pecan pie is the BEST, it's not overpowering sweet it's just the right amount of sweetness, and...it's just simply delicious!More
Just plain ole did NOT like their barbecue. Perhaps personal preference, perhaps just didn't like their blend. Only have a few sides to offer, but - this is a small place. Maybe a bit too small for lunch crowds?
Again, staff had problems understanding English....Considering that this is in the heart of Winter Texan country...not good.More
Lots and lots of character. A place I would have just ridden by had I not heard a rumor that they cooked some of the most fantastic BBQ in McAllen. The service was highly attentive making everything was super and our drinks were always topped...off!More
My father use to bring my mother here when they dated. Its a place we've been coming back to ever since. Its one of the best places in the Valley you can get bbq from. the prices are sort of on the high side. especially...their portions can be on the low side and the prices are expensive, so stick to combo's that include sides.
Now for the bbq portions, they can vary depending who is serving it. Everytime we get take out, we order their number 1 combo which seems like they do skimp on the portions, especially the brisket and fajita. the food is awesome and good and to see my family fight over who got what and how much was taken is a problem. Wish they were more generous and more reflective of the prices they sell their food at.
The restaurant itself is small and like others have said, yes it is an old house that was converted into a restaurant. and those who complain about it, THIS IS Texas, home of BBQ.....more than 90% of well known established BBQ restaurants in the State are old rustic buildings.........that's the POINT! this isn't a franchise joint like Rudy's who over seasons their bbq and is literally over priced.
another drag that I've known of this place is they're closed on Mondays. not sure if it is to this day but that's how it has always been. oh well.More
I'm a thin guy but when they gave us a serving size for two it had a spoon full of sides and I had gotten a mix of fajita, brisket, and chicken. We ask is this it the guy said yes gee what a rip...of 17 bucks never again. Avoid yourself the trouble go somewhere else.More
This is not a fancy-eating place, but if you want delicious BBQ, come here!
I've had their chopped sandwich...YUM!!! Fajita tacos...YUM!!! Sausage tacos...YUM!!!
Their spanish rice & beans are very good too; authentic.
I've had their pork rib plate and I enjoyed it too.
It's...true about the parking...so we go right before the lunch hour or after 1 and we find a spot easily.More
