Saw the restaurant listed in another review and piqued my interest. I was in town on business and had lunch. Staff very friendly spoke to me in Spanish and were patient even though I was a gringo. Was able to order in Spanish as well. The chips and salsa with bean dip was great starter which placed on table when... More

Great food, pricey. Not a good restaurant layout. Nice decor ruined by tacky tv sets everywhere flashing in your face. Not friendly to dinner-for-2 or 4 intimate dining in dining room. Noisy. Tables arranged mostly for parties of 6 or more. Only tables for two by bathroom or right in front of kitchen door where waiters come in/out. A few... More

I have heard very good things about this restaurant from friends who grew up in Monterrey, Mexico so I decided to try it. I wanted an entrée on the lighter side so I ordered Taco de Matamoros. Oh my goodness, the smokey rich flavor of the steak, unique accents from the local cheese on Mexico native to Matamoros added a... More

This place is ok to be a regular taqueria but it is overpriced. It took a long time and didnt like the food much. Maybe in the future I give it another try.

Convenient location, good selection of Mexican food on menu. Courteous prompt service by staff willing to make recommendations. Certainly worth trying if you are in area.

I lived in McAllen a while back and always loved the Caldo Tlalpeño. I stopped for lunch hoping to satisfy my craving. I was very disappointed in what I was served! It was a small bowl with clear broth and chunks of chicken with chickpeas a little rice and chopped avocado. On the side was a small spoon of chipotle... More

I have driven by this restaurant many times. I go to McAllen on business about once a month and the locals had told me this restaurant was very good. I took six people from the client to this restaurant and the food was excellent. I had the quesadilla with fajita meat. It was excellent. My favorite was the chips and... More

It is so nice to have a top notch restaurant on the North side of town. The staff here are consistently good and the food is great. Portions are large and the choices are many. It's easy to recommend such a great upscale restaurant.

Thank Madzech

It is 1974 when Juan Francisco "Pancho" Ochoa begins his journey into the restaurant business. It initiates a wonderful family tradition, with the UNIQUE TASTE of great Mexican food. On January 6th, 1975 Pancho creates "El Pollo Loco" concept in his small hometown of Guasave, located on the Pacific Coast of Mexico. In 1980, this concept becomes the first Mexican restaurant chain to go go across the border, opening its first store in Los Angeles, California on Alvarado Ave. and 6th St. Pancho's passion continues in 1986, when he creates a new and innovating concept in Mexican food. On July 1st, 1987 he opens the first "Taco Palenque" with a distinctive quality, UNIQUE TASTE and good service that quickly developed and gained a good reputation throughout South Texas. On July 31st, 2005 Pancho and his son Charles, with the support of their family, open Palenque Grill in Laredo, Texas. The Ochoa family introduce Flerida Ochoa's (Pancho's wife) family recipes, creating a menu with excellent dishes of Mexican culinary traditions. On behalf of the Ochoa family, we thank you for visiting our small piece of Mexico. We are delighted to be able to serve you now in Laredo, McAllen and San Antonio, Texas.
