This is my second trip to GG's, and I have no idea why it isn't my 103rd. The first time was great, and I guess I was afraid of spoiling it with a second trip, but that was a silly fear. Everything about GG's is...great. The owner himself welcomed us in and walked us to our table. The little waitress, Ginger, was not only personable but efficient. Her service was so good, it probably made the food taste even better. We started with the fried green tomatoes. Not exactly how momma used to make them, but just as good. I had the country-fried pork steak, and my friend had the chopped steak. The chopped steak could have used more onions, but both he and I are onion-lovers, so our chopped steaks or liver and onions never have enough onions for us. Probably would have been plenty for most people. My country-fried pork steak was over-the-top good, and even as good as it was, I could only eat about half. All their desserts looked so amazing that I could kick myself for not saving a little room, but I guess I'll just have to go back! :-) Oh, and the sides..........maybe I'll go back for supper! :-)More

Not as good as I remember. Used to go for the lunch specials and the burgers, and they were always good. It’s now open for breakfast. Went the first day and it took awhile to get seated and over a hour to get our food...and it was warm, not hot. Disappointed. Gave it another try, since first time doing breakfast can be a challenge and it’s a local place. This time, while waiting for our table they seated a couple that came in after us in front of us. I had to remind them we were waiting to be seated. The time to get our food was faster this go round but still slow. The coffee was good, biscuits and gravy were good and hot. The rest of the meal was barely warm. Eggs and pancakes, toast don’t taste that great if they are not hot. Bacon is fine hot or cold. Had to request a refill on coffee. Seemed like only 1 server was actually working. The table next to us had to wait just for someone to take their order. Seems like the kitchen is still having issues getting food out hot and in a timely manner. Not sure when or if we will go back.More

Out of town and stopped for lunch. Great food and friendly staff. Fried pickles, cheese balls, and broccoli cheese soup were delicious.

The hours have expanded to 6 nights a week. Daily lunch specials and dinner features. I love that they keep up the website with their calendar, holiday schedule etc. Our faves are: hamburger steak/gravy or catfish. I have never had a bad experience. Make a...day of it in Marion and check out the other businesses on HWY 78!More

If you are driving down Highway 10 in Texas by San Antonio. It is worth getting off driving on a country road and stopping in to GG’s Corner Cafe. Park next door by the drive though, walk around and find a sit. The service is...great, nice people just like you hope to find in a small town. We had the catfish and it was great. Breading was not greasy and meat tender. My wife had the bake potato like most and green beans. The green beans where doctored up with bacon and onion. I had the onion rings good not great, and massed potatoes tasted good. The best was desert, sawdust pie. I wish I could tell you what it tasted like but,,,, you really have to try it to know. Let’s just say we are going to drive back 45 miles just to get another taste. Lots of homemade food. The restaurant was clean, county decor and every relaxing. Prices not bad, dinners just under $10.00s.More

First I was amazed at the service. Manager greeted us at the door- seated us and took our drink order. Waitress - Kelsey was there right away to take drink order also. Salads came to table right away. I ordered Chicken Fried Steak and husband...had grilled Chicken. Food was served fast and was served piping hot and fresh. So good!! We split a piece of coconut pie. Amazing!! Customers from another table all ordered pie after they saw ours. Waitress and Manager kept close watch to make sure we had everything we needed. Awesome experience.More

This small town restaurant offers all that one would hope for; varied menu, good food, and friendly local ownership and service. The enchiladas are exceptional; a full plate of wonderful flavor. The catfish and the shrimp basket are also recommended. Freshly made pies in a...variety of flavors are also available for dessert or takeout.More

We loved going to Goerkes when it was out in the country. When it was sold, the new owner started changing the country cooking Goerkes was known for. When Gg’s Corner Cafe opened we immediately began going on Wednesday’s or Cajun Fried Catfish night. Same...waitresses, Goerke girls and especially the same recipes. We love the country town appeal as well as country cooking. For success, keep the same ole same ole because everyone goes here for the familiarity of the staff as well as the food. Our “go to” place when we want to eat out. Love, love, love this place!More

Excellent food, friendly staff, fast service. Small town family environment. The waitresses call you by name. The owner walks around and fills glasses as needed.
