The food is pretty good - there is just a lot of it! A good place to go if you are really hungry and have time for a nap afterwards. Parking is horrible. Staff always seems well trained.

This place is not your typical Mexican restaurant. It's very different from the TexMex crap Lubbock serves (Who the heck puts gravy on enchiladas, YUCK!). It is do authenic and more like food from the interior of Mexico. ¡Bravo Abuelo's for Real Mexican food"!!"

The chips are plentiful and delicious (light and CRISPY)! My favorite dish is Pescado Guerrero(sp?) (a fish entrée with a light cream sauce), served with lime rice, poblanos, scallops. You have the choice of two sizes of the entrée. AND if you want an unbelievably delicious dessert try their flan - it is as creamy as crème brulee and is... More

Very yummy Mexican food. Moderately priced but food and service has always been good. On weekends they normally have a live band on their outside patio area. Lots of fun.

We love eating in the Lubbock and Amarillo restaurants. The food is wonderful and the service is awesome. We live that there is a senior menu all day.

Went to Abuelo's based on all the previous reviews and a recommendation from a friend who has eaten there. We were not disappointed. The food lived up to high expectations. Abuelo's is quite popular and you can expect a wait but not for long. The restaurant is large and if you arrive a bit early, you should not have any... More

I usually enjoy having dinner at Abuelo's when I am in Lubbock, but last Sunday night, the food was just average, it was disappointing. My enchiladas came to the table and they were not what I ordered; the waiter looked confused. When I got my order, the enchiladas were just so-so. The red sauce on one of them was not... More

Visited here in July '12 and back today for another. Had steak fajitas the first time and enchiladas this time. I will definitely stick with the fajitas. The ground beef and cheese enchiladas with chili con carne were too greasy and the bottoms of the tortillas were hard. Had a great server though. Wish I could remember his name!
