We enjoyed the food, atmosphere, and friendly people at Picantes. Authentic TexMex food without being too spicy or overly rich. Great flavors. Unique cuisine unlike the chain Mexican restaurants. We will return frequently.

We enjoy dining at Picante's because I can order breakfast and my wife can order lunch at the same time. Pretty authentic Mexican dishes but of course there's also the Tex-Mex influence. For breakfast I usually have the "gringo" breakfast and for lunch... well - enchiladas, enchiladas enchiladas, yummy!! The staff at Picante's are simply awesome!! Polite, attentive, and very... I've had breakfast here for 15 years. Never disappointed. Big burritos that don't skimp on the meat, tasty pancakes. Great at lunch as well......love the enchiladas and Gorditas. Staff is wonderful. Nice, mixed crowed.....wonder field experience every time.

My family has been going here for years and it never disappoints. Breakfast burritos are awesome, try the shrimp chili relleno, enchiladas, chips and salsa . . . it's all great! Love to see a home owned business doing so well in a city packed with chain restaurants!

The breakfast enchiladas are one of the best dishes in Lubbock. Highly recommended, you will not be disappointed. If you are adventurous try the menudo. It will warm your soul. Family run restaurant that isn't perfect, but they have passion and aim to please.

In some cities, this would be a 4, but in Lubbock with so many options for Mexican food, I'm just going to give it a 3. I went with two co-workers, one of whom is of Mexican descent, and all three of us left with the same opinion of "not bad, but nothing special." The food does come out fast... More

Lubbock is known for its Mexican food, and yet folks argue incessantly over which restaurant offers the best of this important cuisine. For my buck, it's Picantes. The place is short on atmosphere. It doesn't offer margaritas. The food is served almost a bit too quickly and the wait staff is fine, but not overtly friendly. In fact, you could... More

Awesome restaurant with takeout or sitdown. Two of us had breakfast meals and another had the mole. Everyone was super happy and this place kept us full through 5 hours of driving! If you have a minute in Lubbock, try it.

I was craving a good Mexican breakfast. This place did not offer much selection. It had the normal Mexican fare, but was lacking the choices I usually see in the Austin area. The chorizo and egg plate was good. The potatoes and beans were the best part. Picantes would have been better with homemade tortillas, and less attitude from the... More

Nothing to write home about, but this restaurant is probably family-owned and authentic for homemade Mexican food. I had the carne asada and enchiladas. Enchiladas were ok, but the carne asada could have used a bit more flavor. Chips and salsa were good. Waitstaff was good.
