Real local flavor and atmosphere

Overall this is a really nice hometown place to eat. My sister and I stopped by for lunch yesterday. It is located very near the cattle auction, so of you want to see real ranchers this is the place to go. The food was over all very good. The sausage was very good except the casing needed a chain... read more

This place used to be the best value BBQ place in Lockhart as their brisket was around $7.50 a pound and their family pack were less than $14.00. Their brisket is not as good as the others in town but at almost half the price a great value for mostly the locals. Since Floyd sold out, the prices have nearly... More

THE RATING IS ONLY AS HIGH AS IT IS FROM THE RESIDUAL OF THE PREVIOUS OWNER. This was my favorite BBQ place ... went there all the time. .... I went there today and I may as well have stayed home and put some sauce on an old boot and ate it. I found out only AFTER eating there that... More

I was hoping it was one of those little ' gems", semi- hole-in-the wall place, but food was really just mediocre at best. Prices were so so considering quality of the food. I was a bit disappointed overall. If you are simply trying to find a place to eat, you can do worse, but, I wouldnt make a special effort... More

We chose this bbq restaurant because of the reviews on tripadvisor. The prices were very reasonable and the portions were large. I happen to like my brisket lean and it was carved to order - very moist and very tasty. Also, it was so great to be able to pick your sides, actually looking at the food in the cafeteria... More

I really like stopping here and hitting their drive through (although it's sometimes crowded). The brisket is always moist and the homemade bread makes for an awesome sandwich.

We love the cafeteria style setup! They have so many great choices of delicious "everything"!!! All of their BBQ choices are "TO DIE FOR"!!! You cannot go wrong if you choose this restaraunt.

Lockhart is world famous for BBQ. Unfortunately that fame has translated into two of the four places going right downhill. I'm looking at you Kreuz's and Smitty's. Neither Kreuz's nor Smitty's allows you to use a knife and fork. You're supposed to eat with your hands and wipe the goo off with cheap paper napkins. Gross! Black's and Chisholm Trail... More

I was ripped in by Blacks BBQ advertisement and tried them first, MISTAKE! I'm glad I came here the next day before I left town. Good hot food!
