Nice and relaxing place for some BBQ. I'm not sure how it would be in the middle of Texas heat since eating is outside. BBQ was great. Baked Potato was hard on the bottom - probably from microwaving. Prices are nice but sodas are a bit expensive.

From the second you net this stop on the road you feel like you went way back in time to how joints used to be, at ten window a happy smiling face asks you what you want. (Hint look down the menu is right in front of you not on the wall) ordered ribs and brisket. Both were good. The... More

On a weekend motorcycle trip, my brother and I attempt to eat BBQ in every place we stay. We are always excited when close to a Texas Monthly top 50 restaurant, so naturally we headed here. Ordered a two meat plate, and asked " do I get one side or two?", the deadpan response was "you get beans and potato... More

Three of us ate at the Hitch-N-Post tonight. All of us agreed that the brisket and sausage tasted like authentic Texas BBQ, the kind we love with a deep, smokey flavor. The sides were every bit as good as the BBQ. The baked beans were seasoned with pieces of smoked brisket, and the homemade potato salad is as good as... More

Stopped by for lunch with friends in town for a visit. I decided to try the hamburger, since I usually have brisket. Gotta tell you, the hamburger was excellent. May be the best in Polk County. Everyone else had sliced beef. Must have been good, they eat everything on their plates. Come on by and visit with Sheriff Billy Ray.

I ate here this week with a group. There is a choice of eating on an outdoor deck or an small air conditioned building. The owners were delightful to meet and enjoyed telling us about their smoking process. I had the brisket/sausage combo plate and sampled a dinner mate's rib plate. Absolutely the best I've ever had - an opinion... More

One of the biggest and best chicken fried steak sandwiches in the state. Get it fully loaded with all the veggies and order a cup of white gravy to pour over or dip in. Also, the deserts are home cooked and worth a try, especially if it is coconut cream pie.
