My wife and I had dinner at Rails. Nice ambience in an old rail depot. We had a reservation and were seated promptly. Service was good but not excellent. I had a Caprese salad followed by Salmon and Shrimp entree. My wife had a cup...of the soup followed by a Chicken Avocado Salad. She asked for one of the ingredients to be omitted due to a health issue and the waiter said it was not a problem. However when the salad was served the ingredient was on the salad. She asked the waiter to correct it and he was very apologetic and gracious about the mistake. But it took a long time for the salad to be presented in the correct manner. Made for kind of a long dinner with each of us watching the other eat.More

Beautiful evening setting out in the courtyard!!! Many eclectic yard art pieces were positioned in the outside seating area which gave the restaurant a one of a kind special feeling!!!We were very blessed to have been seated by the massive brick and slate waterfall- such...pleasant sounds as we relaxed and enjoyed such a scrumptious meal. The side salad with honey mustard dressing was quite tasty. I ordered a cup of the potato, cheese, and bacon soup and my husband ordered a cup of the tomato bisque to eat along with the chicken and avocado wrap. Both of us LOVED our food choices. I spotted the huge dessert tray- very difficult to decide whether to indulge in cake, pie, or pudding- all were very tempting, but I chose the Boston Cream Pie and I ate every crumb!!!! No Guilt!!!Service was excellent!!! You must try this restaurant- just an awesome experience!!!More

Heard good things but not our experience. Started with Spanakopita and that was good. Mahi Mahi Tacos had a runny pink sauce, tortillas fell apart. Came with some chopped tomato, canned black beans and feta cheese In the bottom 10 of fish tacos in my...experience. Penne Quail Palermo was bland. Quail overcooked and only tasted of char. Tomato sauce was mediocre. My wife took one bite and didn't want a second. Server was inattentive and asked ZERO questions when told the quail was not good. Skip this and try somewhere else. We won't go back.More

Rails is a fabulous little restaurant with great atmosphere and great staff. I thoroughly enjoyed the feeling of stepping back into the days when trains were the transportation center and people gathered to say goodbye and welcome home excited travelers. Fabulous job on capturing the...train stop feel. I did however feel like the food was just a notch lower than it ought to be. The osso bucco, one of the recommended dishes, fell short with gravy that tasted like it was too thick and out of a jar. It didn’t taste homemade. However, the salad with the house dressing, and the iced lemon cake with blueberries kept me smiling and happy. Reasonable prices. Great service. I’ll go back!More

This place was a nice surprise! The food and service were both perfect. I highly recommend the "Grilled Queso" appetizer. You can tell that the chef and owner both take great pride in what they do.

We were looking for a place for lunch in Fredricksburg...seems a lot of places are closed on Wednesday! So we drove to Kerrville and found Rails. WE LOVED IT!!! Great ambience, delicious food ( had the tenderloin panini...so good)...TOO many dessert choices.😉...the pina colada cake...was amazing! 😋 Service was very attentive...had a great conversation with the very friendly manager, Khristin...appreciated their mask mandates, gloved servers and social distancing. There was also a nice outdoor patio area, but a little too chilly when we were there. If you are in Kerrville, by all means GO!More

We had a great time and meal here. The food and service were very good. The place is a little bit chattery, but not too bad. This is one of our two favorites in Kerrville.

We were there for lunch in shorts. Not sure about dinner, but it was casual when we were there.

Yes. They allow dogs on the patio. They provide water bowls for your dog and even have a separate doggie menu. Max and Pickles like eating there as much as we do
