Po' Melvin's is a casual, laid-back neighborhood restaurant, with lots of seating, in booths and tables. The decor is somewhat dated, but is clean and has a homey atmosphere. I visited for lunch on a Thursday about 1pm and it was not too busy. The plentiful staff is very friendly and efficient. There is a small bar on one side... More

My granddaughter wanted to take me out to breakfast for my birthday. She's leaving for college and trying to save every penny she earns. This was her gift to me, I wish she had saved her money. I hadn't eaten at Po Melvin's in a while as it features home cooking ,usually fried. It's a great place favored by men... More

Food was bland. Lacking any kind of cajun/creole flavor. Don't believe any talk of a huge menu. The cajun items here are far and few between. No boudin, etoufee, shrimp creole, andouille sausage. More of a southern cooking restaurant if anything else. Biggest problem was just boring food. Totally edible, just no flavor and no spice. Server was fine if... More

We stopped here and shared a meal together. We were given a sample of roast beef and gravy and ended up ordering the chicken fried steak, green beans and fried okra. All very good. I think I will order a different item next time. The service was good also- always checking up on us. Although not particularly inclined to New... More

Gumbo was delicious, stuffed peppers good, all sides tasted great. House drink was very good and bread pudding good as well. Good atmosphere and got seated quickly even on a Friday evening at 6:45. Good service and fast servers.

Had to give Po Melvins a try even though it wasn’t an inviting location in a strip shopping center close to the Irving Mall. I can best describe it as a place you might drive by and say I wonder what that place is like. But we couldn’t resist their sign of good old home cookin’. Upon entry one might... More

Ate here with some coworkers for lunch, glad we got here early because it gets packed quick. They have alot of food and the dishes are huge for the price. I enjoyed my time and thought the service was quick and wonderful. Very friendly staff and the owner even came and introduced his self and hooked us up with a... More

I'm reviewing the Red Beans, Roast and Brown Gravy, Catfish and Shrimp, etc. if you want to know about french fries and fried pickles read the other reviews. Being a New Orleanian born and raised this food is great. And to find it in DFW is a jewel. The owner and son are from Nola and cook with a roux... More

The fried pickles we got were enjoyable. We also liked the cheddar cheese fries with ranch. The fries by themselves were bland and overall everything was extremely greasy. The staff were nice and there was a full bar at the back of the place. I just didn't have anything that made this place stand out.
