My husband and I have been married 31 years and He is always looking for a great chicken fried steak when we travel. He can be hard to please so when he says the chicken fried steak was very good that is high praise! I had the chicken tortilla soup which has tomatoes, carrots, and very generous amount of chicken with tortilla strips fresh avocado strips and sour cream which was fantastic! The pre meal fresh yeast rolls and warm cornbread were delicious. I do not usually eat bread and asked for more cornbread! The service was top notch friendly and prompt!! Onion rings were not greasy at all. I asked how long they have been open and was told 16 years. I have been to Huntsville several times over the years and did not know about this wonderful restaurant! The softball field are just down the road as well. I also had a small dinner salad which had all fresh and crisp veggies.

The others in the party all had the Monte Cristo sandwich which was enjoyed by all 3. I sampled it and it was delicious. I opted for a chicken fried steak which was also very tasty. I do appreciate that they put the gravy on the side. The sides I chose, slaw and fried okra were also very good and the sweet potato fries were light and crispy. Now, if you don't have desert here, then you are missing the best part of this restaurant. Only one word... WOW! The peanut butter pie was the best! Too many options and not enough time here.

We heard nothing but good things about Farmhouse, so we had to check it out while in Huntsville.
Best deal on the menu if you are hungry is the Farmhouse Trio. For $17.50 you get any appetizer, entree, and a yummy dessert! You share the appetizer and dessert. You can even share a large chicken fried steak! So worth the price!
If eating for one, don't order the large chicken fried steak, it is huge!! This is definitely a meal for two.
The chocolate cake was delicious! Service was great. Prices are decent.
Fried green tomatoes were good. There were so many things on the menu that I wanted to try, but not a big enough belly! I guess I will have to visit again in the future.
Key lime pie was not your typical key lime. It was good, but I was expecting better.
Only one toilet in bathroom, but luckily there were chairs outside the bathrooms for those waiting in line.
I will go again, but I will be trying something different.

Our lunch on a Tuesday did not disappoint. The chicken fried chicken was delicious...lightly breaded, hot, and juicy. Hot sides of mashed potatoes and gravy, along with fried okra were just right. Our meal started out with a complimentary basket of hot rolls and cornbread, served with butter and jelly - we had two baskets!!! The server was groans prompt. Overall very good food at a reasonable price. Two entrees and drinks for $24.

We visited on a Friday for lunch. The parking lot was full, so we had to park on the street. The wait was about 10 minutes. Our waiter was friendly and helpful, but very busy. The food was excellent, as usual. The small portion of chicken fried steak was just right, the okra was perfect and mashed potatoes very good. Unfortunately, they were behind on making fresh cornbread, so we didn’t get any until we were ready to leave. The waiter was kind enough to box up some for us to enjoy later. Total cost about $26 for two entrees including tip.

We had to wait about 20 minutes for a table late Saturday afternoon, about an hour after a Sam Houston football game. Once we were seated the service was prompt. The complementary bread arrived hot, the cornbread is excellent. Our meals arrived within 5 minutes after ordering, not hot, more warm than cold. The food was good but bland. The fried okra was lightly battered and a bit soft for my liking. I added pepper to everything. Overall I give the place an average rating on food and ambiance and above average on service.

Shrimp brochette tasted like had bleach in it! Looked like could have cooked longer too. Green fried tomatoes good but didnt think thin as advertised. Catfish good.. mac and cheese good. Chicken Juarez and charcoal chicken tasted like need more flavor. Mashed potatoes and gravy were cold. Fried okra a little soggy. Sweet potato fries good. Service good.

We called to reserve a table, and they set up a nice table for the 6 of us, in a comfortable area. Very sweet waitress took good care of us; drink orders filled, the veggie cornbread brought to the table, quickly. We took advantage of the daily specials; be sure to ask about them, if your menu does not show a special panel of them, attached to the inside of your menu. Our table enjoyed a double BLT, chicken fried chicken,and chicken fried steaks. Sides were good, except for the corn casserole, which was a swing and a miss. The casserole was canned corn, watery and too sweet to enjoy, just seemed to be corn mixed with crumbs of some sort. There are many other good sides, including onion rings and mashed potatoes and gravy, to name a few. We were galdly given more bread with our meal, and though the portions on the lunch menu are smaller, they are perfectly sized, for lunch. We were too full to order dessert, but they have a list of pies and cakes.
Nice atmosphere, prices and good service. Good stop for lunch, when you are in Huntsville!

We were excited to try this place based on reviews but everyone was very underwhelmed. Service was great!, but food was just ok. It seems like the same batter is used for all their fried foods. Rolls were soft. It just wasn’t where we should have spent our one dinner out on the trip.

My wife and I went for dinner, I ordered the daily special, oven fried porkchop. When order came out was very unappealing, greenish white colored topping on porkchop. It was not hot, not warm, just room temperature and dry. Obviously it must have been cooked prior to lunch and sat all day. I should have sent back as it was really not edible. If there was a rating below a 1, this meal deserved it but rolls and cornbread was good.

The food was really good and the amount of food you get for what you pay is ridiculous. As in no one should eat that much in one sitting ridiculous. But what makes this place truly special is the desserts. I got the banana pudding pie, which was itself outstanding. But my friend got the strawberry cake and gave me a portion (again, enormous slice) and it was easily one of the top ten desserts I’ve had in my 48 years. If I ever get within a hundred miles of Huntsville Texas again, I’m coming back for more cake.

Usually Farmhouse is great but this visit (or maybe time of the day at 1:30) was had problems.
The service was slow. The table we were taken to was dirty. And their great broccoli cornbread was hard and flat. We never saw our waitress until we were finished to ask for fresh bread (which she brought and told us the first was just an old batch). “Farmhouse, if it is old, don’t serve it”.

I had a gathering of 14 family members
Reservations at 3:00pm
We were welcomed with smiling faces and ready to serve us
All orders were delivered to the table at one time so
everyone starting eating at same time
Everyone had something different to eat and told me it was very tasty and well prepared All food was hot not served barely warm👍
Our server was really great. Made sure we all got what we ordered and kept up to make sure we had refills on the drinks . ( That is a rare happening even at high end restraunts)
Most all ordered some variety of pie
The Buttermilk Chess pie was really good
After the meal the Cafe brought out a surprise slice of their chocolate cake for the “ Birthday Boy”
Oh!! So good
All in all we all have a 5 star rating and will surely
go back to eat there

This place was amazing! The wait wasn’t overly long, the waitress was very friendly and efficient, and the food was very good! They start you out with three kinds of bread/cornbread and wonderful whipped butter. My husband had the chicken fried steak and he said he thought it was the best he’s ever had. He also had turnip greens and fried green tomatoes and said they were great. The chicken fried chicken was lightly battered, golden, tender and delicious! I’m not sure what the cream gravy was made from, but it was good too. The tea was good and the chocolate mousse pie was great, especially the whipped topping - and I don’t usually like the topping. I can see why it’s rated the #1 place to eat in Huntsville!

Our daughter had told us about the Farmhouse Café, so when we were in Huntsville last week we thought we'd give it a try. The food and service were wonderful! Everyone was friendly, wait-staff was very outgoing and responsive and I probably had the best BLT and fries I've every had! Place was clean, food was hot. I would have given it 5 stars, but the coffee was way too strong and the pie was way too sweet. We always look for great pie and coffee.
