The burgers are very generous in size and flavor. Just bring your appetite. Sides are also great! Gets crowded at times but worth the wait.

Tried this place out for the first time with a colleague and it was awesome! Burger tasted hand made, onion rings were well seasoned, great job!!

My wife and I ate at Hippo Burgers for the first time Saturday. One of the best burgers I have had in a while. Fast service. And a good selection of burgers. We will be back!

I've had most of the burgers on the menu all are very good. Stupendous! !! Better than home cooked can't had a match to anyone's burgers ..garlic fries. Nice N strong ...cajaun fries for the wild ones ..still really really good !!!

Once my eyes adjusted to the brightness of the yellow and red interior walls and bright fluorescent lighting I studied the menu board and placed my order. I asked for the Mushroom burger, an order of onion rings and an ice tea. It was a...bit hard to hear the guy at the cash register as there were 6 guys at a table behind me talking loudly and this place is all hard surfaces so sounds echo here. I filled my tea and sat and waited. Seemed like a steady stream of lunch customers, several had ID tags that looked like from the nearby high school, maybe teachers. My order came out and it was pretty awesome, a big burger and plenty of onion rings. Their rings are the crunchy crisp breaded ones and tasted great, their oil in the fryer is obviously fresh. The burger was super juicy and the meat is not hard pressed into a patty shape but kind of broke up in the bun. The mushrooms and grilled onions were super hot of the griddle. Probably should have not had the mayo. I'm ok with it but between the mayo and the juicy burger the bun soon began to fall apart. No problem, they have plastic cutlery if you need it and lots of napkins. The burgers and sides are priced like a place that isn't a big chain fast food joint so is a bit higher. I got out for just over $12 but felt it was worth it. It sure doesn't look like much from the street, kind of a non descript strip center but the burgers are good.More

The burgers here are great! The portions are BIG! I am a grown woman & order the kids burger. We all like the garlic fries as well.

Had a neighbor recommend this place last weekend and MAN am I glad he did! This place has amazing burgers with beef patties that you can actually see! Meat on burger was crumbling apart and fries were burnt. I asked for them to redo and they said they would just give me my money back because all burgers were like that. I know that is not true because my last burger wasn't like...that. The owner told the manager to give me my money back and he wasnt going to remake it. I asked the man was he the owner and he said no, but his picture was on the wall and the manager had already told me he was. Very hot inside.More

This place may look a little outdated, but the food is a HIT. Great fries and onion rings...MMM MMM I have never gotten anything bad there yet. It is a 10$ hamburger but it is WORTH IT

The Wilson Rd. location is a hole in the wall place: limited seating, single unisex (but clean) restroom, plastic service, food in plastic trays, no ambience, counter ordering (but table delivery): one star so far, right? Maybe so, but when it gets to their burgers...it jumps to five. Went there twice, got the Texas Burger both times: once with French fries and once with tater tots. Tots could have been a little browner but no complaint. I will try to order them extra crispy next time. Both fries and tots were hot and fresh. First time there I asked to have the burger cooked "true medium" hoping for a patty that was not rubbery. They said they only cook it one way and so they do. That way is "just right." No worries about that. My wife raved about the excellent flavor of their Angus beef and I was absorbed in the overall burger experience which was phenomenal: large patty (1/2 lb), good buns, chili, jalapenos and other toppings. All blended well. I have had many excellent burgers in my time and I must say, these were among the best. My partners both ordered the Hippo Burger with the same conclusion as mine. The staff was friendly, courteous, helpful and responsive. Food a little pricey but good value. If you are after five star dining ambience with starched white table cloths, crystal and fine silverware, don't go there, but if you want a good burger, Hippo is the place for you. Kingwood BobMore
