Instead of Cooking Girl there is another Szechuan restaurant at this location called Pepper Twins. Their menu is similar to their predecessor, but, in my opinion, is much better as the spiciness of the food is well balanced and does not 'kill' the taste buds.

We ordered our favorite Diving fish (taste for today was spicy sauce), stir fried tomatoes with eggs and stir fried cabbage with chilies and herb spices. It was so delicious that our steamed rice finished up and was refilled quickly by the server without asking....More

This may look like a small basic kitchen that surely couldn't be in downtown houston but oh my gosh what came out of that kitchen was made by an angel. We had the hot diving fish which was just unbelievable how something so simple could...More

Although parking space is minimal for this small restaurant, the food is packed with flavor. It can be really busy so we try to get there just as it opens, but every table is quickly filled. We love the radish appetizer, green beans, spicy shrimp,...More

We have been there twice this year, the recent dine-in was 2 weeks ago. Would recommend their special dish - Diving fish (spicy). It could be cooked in non-spicy sauce too. We enjoyed it as the sliced fillets are cooked so tender and so tasty...More

Cooking Girl has awesome spicy food, made with organic ingredients and free from MSG. If you don't order a spicy dish, make sure to order the house hot sauce. Awesome if you like spice: not just hot, TASTY hot. The managers are not from around...More
