Friendly welcome at the bar continued throughout dinner in the restaurant. Refined Mexican food with delicious refried beans. Overall, the food was very good although the wine was a bit on the expensive side compared to nearby restaurants of a similar standard.

My wife and decided to eat here as they took reservations it wasn’t crowded. Nice interior. Waiter was OK, not great. The food was good. My wife enjoyed the chicken enchiladas with verde sauce - very good and a large plate. I had the chicken fajitas- good and a lot of food.

I went around seven years ago after many years and it was average and likely below average. I do not expect fine service and food in Houston and therefore I must be fair when comparing to restaurants such as those in Athens, Milano, London and the like. I must say that Armandos surprised me. The complete experience was delightfful.
Bravo!!!

The hosting staff have a attitude which is visible on their faces. Food is average. Total disregard for Covid. Granted Covid rules have gone but this restaurant has tables packed in. One cannot get in and out of your chair without hitting next chair to the side or at the back. Packed like sardines and very loud.
It took almost 15 minutes to get typical Mexican Salsa. Standard is sweet tomato sauce
Almost all parking sapces are reserved for valet

I was impressed with this venue for a wedding reception. Even though the guest list was large enough to tip toward full capacity, the event was beautiful. The DJ, the bar and table service, and the atmosphere was all great. Food was tasty and hot, just as one would hope for. Bravo. I'll be back to eat here again now that I'm aware of Armando's existence. I also want to go on a Thursday night; I hear they have a great dancing scene with the same DJ!

I am sure Armandos is following guidelines, but if you are at all worried about the community spread i would not suggets a visit to Armandos right now. Last Saturday night my family of four had reservations. I have never seen the restaurant more crowded. There are no "every other table" protocols being used. We left. I love Amrandos for the energy and great food but I will wait a bit before attempting another trip.

White tablecloth Mexican cuisine. The food is excellent. The waiters' dress and the decor throw you back to the restaurant's origins, decades ago. Would return.

We decided to try something different in another part of town and so we loaded up and headed to Westheimer from Northwest Houston. Armandos apparently only takes reservations so we learned if you wait too long, you eat at 8:30 pm. When we arrived, the place was packed but we were seated at 8:30 which tells me they respect you and the clock.
Here is the breakdown...I go the Mini Surf & Turf which has a filet mignon, crab cake, and grilled shrimp. The steak was phenomenal and cooked correctly, the crab cake was flavorful and while the shrimp was cooked just long enough, it was somewhat over-salted. The others all went standard Mexican fare and the flavors were over the top.
Wine selection was unique with $40 to $120 bottles and all were good choices. We had the Duckhorn.
My favorite part of the evening was our waiter, Jorge Pena and he took care of our table and interacted with us to perfection. Kudos to the management for their selection of staff and the quality of food (but please back off the salt on the shrimp)

We had a delicious fajita dinner in a separate, lovely dining space. Excellent service and wonderful food on a special occasion. Valet parking.

This high end, and expensive, Mexican Food restaurant is a welcome respite from the traditional TexMex that is so prevalent in Houston. The atmosphere is somewhat formal and the dress code is business casual. We had the Chili Reyeno and crab enchiladas and they were excellent. The chips, salsa, and rice were average but the beans were unusual and very good. Although service is obviously supposed to be upscale, it was a little lacking. Drinks weren’t refreshed and it was difficult to get the check.

Yes this place is horrable.... All there food has no flavor to it even if it's the 7 regions... Whoever is cooking dose not know who. To cook real food...
A Taqueria has better food anywhere else. In Houston

I could tell that this is a very popular place among the locals. The service was excellent. I always judge a Mexican restaurant by the chips and salsa. The green sauce was delicious. I loved that the red sauce was served warm. It was good but needed salt and a bit more kick. I had Flaco’s. I loved the crispy taco. The little salsa that came with the dish was super hot! Loved that. My daughter inhaled her cheese enchiladas and my husband loved his carnitas tacos. We shared the brownie which was three large triangles with dice Ream and two sauces. If in this area again I would come back.

This was a long overdue visit and first to the not-so-new location. I was a big fan in the 90’s, and this was better than I recall. Delicious food, a bit pricey, served by a helpful waitstaff in a stylish setting. Enjoy those refried black beans!

We have been going to Armandos for years. It’s in the neighborhood and has great food, great service and a lively atmosphere. Perfect except for one thing...
The margaritas are the weakest in town. Seriously, we ordered several “Top Shelf” margaritas tonight and felt NOTHING. This has happened many times before, and I keep hoping it’ll be different the next time. Well I have finally reached the point of frustration that has led me to write this review.
If you want to spend $14 a glass for sugary lime juice, this is your place. Drink all night, no problem, you won’t have any issues driving home.
If you want a margarita with alcohol, I suggest Pico’s, El Tiempo, even Escalante in this neighborhood. Drive a little further to El Meson.
If you like the food and atmosphere at Armando’s, great, save your money and order Iced Tea.
