I tried this BBQ place here on 5/12 it was horrible and expensive. Me and my husband order the beef ribs plate. The cashier initially told us it was $15 and when she gave us the the total it was $68 dollars. My ask her...again how much the beef rib plate was plate she said $15. Then another came and said she was the owner and indicated it was $31.50 each. The ribs had no seasoning on them at all. When, I tried to address my concerns with the so call owner. I felt like she was just blowning me off and was not trying to hear what I was saying.More

We order to go on line and their website makes it very easy. There are photos of the food and they provide all the options you might need when ordering so you don't have to worry about communicating a specific request. Their ribs are very...good. The green beans are also good. The corn did not taste grilled and had some spicy seasoning that should be optional. We don't care much for the BBQ sauce but everyone differs on what kind they prefer. Their huge baked potatoes are delicious. We've had them with brisket, turkey and chicken. They offer a delicious chocolate cake that is usually cut in generous pieces but we recently got 2 pieces that were definitely not the same size. The pound cake is average. Our biggest complaint is price. Their food is not cheap yet they nickel and dime you on the potatoes. I don't know anyone else who charges extra for more sauce, bread, pickles or onions. Or to put ingredients on the side. Or to leave the foil off the potato. There's lots of BBQ competition in Houston, but I'd give them a try.More

The ribs are very good, the best I have had in the area. Tender, good size. My husband and I split the sampler platter, which comes with ribs, turkey, brisket, and sausage. The brisket was tender and moist, rub was good, turkey was good, but...not as much smoke flavor and more day. I am not a fan of sausage, but my husband said it was good as well, a little dry, . Over all a good BBQ place. Very clean, good selections and staff very friendly. Would go backMore

Excellent cajun sausage, brisket and collards. Will definitely come again. The sauce has excellent flavor and was clearly not store bought

It was a Sunday morning, we were on our way to Bush International Airport. Our go to Texas barbecue place was closed on Sundays. We checked the reviews and decided to get takeout from SouthernQ on Ritchie Road and boy are we glad we did!...We placed our order and five minutes later we were brought food directly to our car. The food was as good as described by other reviewers. Their slow smoked brisket was moist and delicious and rib tips were moist morsels both had a perfectly crisp bark. I love southern greens and there’s did not disappoint. Sliced white bread, pickles and onions all enhanced our meal and were complementary. Service was friendly and efficient, prices were reasonable.More

This review is for their Richey road lication! Not only was the service absolutely terrible, they were actually right at home with it! I placed and paid for my order at 12:25pm and was told it would be ready for pickup at 1:25pm. I arrived...at 1:30pm and it wasn't ready and the outside workers were using 2-way radios to inquire about my order but, that was going nowhere fast. So, I called the number they gave me to call and after a recorded message, it went straight to voicemail. I finally got out of my truck and went inside around 2:15pm to get a refund; at this point I just wanted a refund and to get as far away from incompetence as possible!More

We live south of Houston and wanted to support this family Black owned business. Just absolutely no regrets here! The pork ribs were succulent, juicy...no sauce needed. Brisket OMG...same. Turkey was also very tender and moist. I don't know if the sides or the meat...were our favorites! COLLARD GREENS, corn bread, the cheesiest most amazing mac n cheese, homemade potato salad. And of course a must try were the desserts: peach cobbler and strawberry cake. Southern as can be and they didn't just hit the mark on taste, quality and QUANTITY , they surpassed! I would like to also mention the staff. Ever so friendly and kind. The restaurant and restrooms were spotless. Great vibes with music! For sure a hidden gem.More

This is a great little family run BBQ that's in an old house right in between 1960 in the Spring Texas. The service is fantastic and friendly. The brisket and sausage are perfect. The barbecue sauce is a little thinner than I'm normally used to...but it's great just the same surprisingly. Highly recommend this place. It has nice dining little section and they do a lot of carry outMore

This place was recommended by the shuttle driver at the Hilton hotel (by the airport) and boy was he right, this WAS some of the best southern BBQ I've ever had. This would be another one of those places where you would re-arrange your entire...holiday just to go back and eat here again (which is exactly what's happening now by the way. Haha) They have two locations and we went to the newest one on Richley St (in North Houston). The outside was clean and had lots of picnic tables for seating, the inside was the same with minimal decor, very rustic. They had an extensive menu of smoked brisket, chicken, sausage, pulled pork, rib bones and a specialty smoked Turkey leg they only serve on weekends... basically, if you could smoke it, they have it.... sides included corn on the cob, coleslaw, beans, canjun rice and more. Don't leave here without trying their desserts, which are all home made. Peach cobbler, strawberry cake and banana pudding. The service is a bit cold to be honest, I don't think we were their "normal" type of customer... but thankfully it was counter service so you order at the front and they bring it out for you. We felt a little awkward but the food more then made up for it.... The only thing that was really weird, they serve everything on paper or tin foil or in styrofoam with plastic cutlery. They HAVE to change that, its incredibly wasteful and just not something we were used to seeing in Canada.More

This is some fantastic barbecue. The service is warm and friendly, and very good. I had the brisket,...and it was wonderful. Very tender, and not dry at all. I wanna go back...More

Friday was our ' 83rd Monthiversary ' and my Wife and I were trying to decide where to go for Dinner. We have always wanted to try SouthernQ BBQ on Kuykendahl but have not gone as yet ... until last night. We thought, " why...not ... ", will go sometime, so why not for our 83rd Monthiversary. So we did. Now, we don't go to many BBQ places around because my Son Grills, Smokes, BBQ's and creates the Best Deliciousness one could imagine and any place we have been comes in a distant second to his ... that being said, we are giving SouthernQ a try. Arrived for an early dinner because they said they do get busy, but they would find a table for us. The place is really cute and very well uniquely painted inside ... lots of cool stuff to look at while you eat. When you walk in, you're at the counter reading the large menu they have displayed on the wall. Lots to choose here and we don't know what to get. My Wife decided on the 'Today's Special' ... 'Rib Tip Plate'; 1 pound of Rips with two sides. She chose the Salad as both sides. I'm thinking something like a 'Sampler Platter', and they suggested the '3 Meat Plate'; with Brisket (moist), Homemade Sausage, Ribs & Turkey (they give you 4 meats), served with Bread, Pickles, Onions, Potato Salad, Cajun Rice, Corn on the Cob & Baked Beans. They said that this plate is enough for Two People, and I plan to take some home. Wanted to try a little bit of everything they have and this is a good way to do just that. My Wife is having a Diet Coke and I'm going with the Raspberry Iced Tea. We grabbed our plasticware and chose a table. The Staff here are really cool people and assist you every way that they can ... very helpful. The Raspberry Iced Tea is really Delicious with lots of Raspberry flavoring ... and not overly sweet at all. My Wife said her Diet Coke was Icy Cold ... she liked that. Wasn't long and our food was brought over to the table. My Wife's Salad is Huge, and enough for Two People. Her Rib Tips look really good, all coated with BBQ Sauce. My Platter is also Huge ... and that's a lot of Meat. They give you plenty of food here ... and more items than the Menu Board says ... that's good. All the Meats that we had were a little dry for us but had good flavor and their Sauces, Hot & Mild, were pretty darn good stuff. My Wife said that her Rib Tips were very Tasty near the bone, but the outer part of it were a little hard but loving the sauce. The Corn on the Cob was Good-n-Spicy, and the Baked Beans were Deliciousness with a lot of Sauce. The Cajun Rice was Sticky style and the Potato Salad was Mashed Style. Overall it was okay but not Knocked-Out-Of-The-Park. We ate until we were stuffed and still took a lot home ... you get a lot of food at SouthernQ, just like they do in the South ... and we are in the South ... Large Portions for everyone. Need to try some of the other dishes they offer. Again, there is a lot on that Menu Board and their Baked Potato toppings sounds delicious, and so does everything listed ... might just need a few trips here. Check'em out on Facebook; Southern Q BBQ Catering ... The Uniqueness of this place is pretty cool. Thank You SouthernQ for an enjoyable evening. Y'all Rock. Thank You Baby for all that you do and you do a lot. Happy 83rd Monthiversary ... Love You Bunches & Munches. Now to cruise on home with my Baby in my Baby on a Very Nice Texas Night ... or late afternoon ... whatever you want to call it, it's Beautiful and it's Texas.More

If you visit this small BBQ restaurant during peak hours you may have to wait a bit. But believe me it is well worth the wait. Fantastic rib plates with falling off the bone meat. Terrific sides. The cole slaw is truly the best I’ve...had. The green beans are slow cooked with shreds of meat. A complete menu of all the regular items you would expect in a BBQ restaurant. I recommend you come earlier or later than peak hours if possible. Parking is a bit tight. Friendly staff and very competitive prices.More
